For the 40 day retirement rule, the record for most days and consecutive run at #1 is
Rihanna "Umbrella"
Most days at #1 - 15 days
Consecutive run at #1 - 8 days
As of today (Oct. 31) Ashley is currently tied with Umbrella for the most consecutive run at #1 (tomorrow will more than likely break it) and is only 5 days away from breaking Umbrella's most days at #1 record
Also, I doubt "He Said She Said" has been on top for what 7 days straight? They just get lazy and don't want to change the positions that pop up on the side.

I am actually sort of thinking about that too because there is no way that the top 2 (Ashley and Britney) would simply not change at all over more than a week considering the way songs were moving before the change of format.
For those who wanna complain to MTV about how TRL is not what it used to be, click here. I'm not so sure if they will read the messages but it's worth a try.
