Jay Z and Nicki Minaj are two completely different artists who came out during two very different eras in hip hop. While they both are "lyrically adequate" to hip hop’s culture, they both have faced very different critique. Jay Z is a rap artist where he didn’t have double and triple standards against him, and through his music, people actually gave it a chance by listening to it. Needless to say, it was the “in” thing to do to like Jay as a rapper when The Blueprint came out. Nicki Minaj in regards to the “real hip hop” fan only references her Monster verse, while later fans who just love hip hop (a very small percentage) appreciate the new verses she does and actually listens to the rap records and verses she hopped on. For a female to go so hard as an underdog in rap is commendable. Not only is she still having to prove herself every time because she’s a female, but she has to satisfy one of the most diverse fan bases any artist has right now. Its unfortunate that while she is one of the hardest and most humble rap artists, she is pigeon-holed by many people and she has become almost a pariah for the so-called “real hip hop” fans to knock. Before even listening to the album people already dismissed it, yet on her album The Pinkprint, by the fourth track she already spits in her 4th flow! On 4 Door Aventador she even gives homage and spits in Biggie’s flow. Yeah, there is a portion of her album that has more of an RnB feel to it, and she opens up as a person rather a pink-wigged caricature, and its just very different and admirable that she could’ve done that. Some artists cannot be humanized by their own music, but Nicki was able to finally open up, and let everyone see that she is a human being with similar struggles just like anyone else. Also, music doesn’t sell like it once did, and some of the people rating albums nowadays don’t even understand what a hip hop album represents (The Washington Post immediately knocked Nicki’s album, judged it basked on a few leaked tracks and they brought up another female rap artist out right now, almost as if they were promoting them. Needless to say, the writer of that article was a pop music critic.) It goes back to even how the grammys are run. Nicki Minaj’s song Anaconda, where Nicki herself even said that it was a jokingly-made track where she didn’t take the lyrics seriously and wrote it in minutes. She said after her friends all laughed and loved the track, she knew it would’ve been just a song that people would have fun to. So a track that she didn’t even put her lyrical effort into gets nominated for a grammy, yet the tracks where she is spitting bars isn’t even acknowledged. Hip Hop fans as a whole need to wake up, and understand that the genre of hip hop is always changing, and even if Nicki Minaj is a female who successfully charted with pop tracks, it doesn’t mean her rap tracks should be automatically overlooked.

Overall, that's a pretty solid album. I'm getting life from the most of tracks

We have Jcole, Kanye, Drake, Jayz and a couple others.
2015 is going to be a good year for hip hop. I think Nicki should get Jay z to remix one of the urban singles
she needs at least one or two urban pops not just the sexy ish
