They don't.
The trouble with Kelly (pun intended) is that while she does experiment with different genres and sounds, she keeps a pop-rock undertone throughout each album. Which people often confuse as her not changing up her style. I think some poor single choices along the way hasn't helped her with this either. But to the musically knowledgeable, there are many differences throughout her albums. But I can see where people might think she's predictable are coming from.

Cupid is right here. The albums sound different to us because we're very familiar with her music, but - especially in most of her singles - there are some elements that go throughout her whole discography: genre (even with small changes, it's still pop rock), structure of songs (anthems, huge choruses, belts), themes (heartbreak and empowerment)... Although I think that the progress from Thankful to Breakaway and from Breakaway to My December wasn't predictable, All I Ever Wanted kinda was predictable (I think that after MD there were two ways of Kelly's future - either she and RCA would try to do a comeback (which happened) or Kelly would stuck to rock/alternative) and Stronger was predictable, I get why people say she is predictable when it comes to music. I think the new album might be a departure from her style but you can't deny we still expect huge pop rock anthems.
