It's beyond ridiculous how Pop radio is playing Neon Lights so much yet paying dust to DIL and (especially) The Man considering how much better they're selling.

You're right, although to be fair there usually is a strong correlation between pop airplay and sales, so when there's songs which break the trend they stick out. With other formats there's little correlation, so it's not such a big deal.

Neither of those songs is really Pop though, while Neon Lights is.

So it would make sense that it would get higher POP airplay when compared to sales.

Radio stations are not gonna play songs their core audiences don't want to hear. The songs you mentioned are not getting good call out scores.

It only fell because of the new releases and it falls during this time of the day. Its climbing now and it was 26 last weekend so.

Exactly this. Look at #SELFIE. It is getting terrible call-out scores and will probably stagnate on radio in a couple weeks. Even though it might still be selling well, radio stations won't have a problem dropping it from their rotation.
