Plus, I think it's better that the judges see our entries when it is posted in the thread. While sending to the host, we often have some things to say to them like 'check if everything works before posting in the thread' and so on. This is for people who do a lot of formatting.
If we send our entries to all the judges, they're gonna see it as a mess (because our entries in PM look like a mess .. I don't know for you all, but for me it does) .. But it's all pretty when posted here, so I'd rather have the judges see my entry when it's posted in the thread.
This is just another reason why I think it's better to send our entries to the host and not the judges.
Welcome, everyone! It's been a bit of a hectic week. Let's post some entries to get our mind off of the drama!

I have just been selected ATRL’s newest moderator. What would I do? Well, I would be the meanest b**ch on the planet and everybody would hate me, just kidding. I actually wouldn't change much, because this website is already great. However, I would try to be a nice moderator. I would ban all the mean *****s, who drag or insult other people, I don’t like mean people, I would ban them for a day or two, until they get some rest and I think about the words they said. I wouldn’t like to be a moderator tbh, I am a very lazy ***** and I would mess this site up. I like it the way it is now. I know this answer might be flop, but I gotta be honest, I am not a moderator type, I am a very basic bitch. But I wouldn’t mind firing some other moderators ATRL is a great site and I wouldn’t change a lot, I would keep it cute, simple and would open registration for all the people. I wouldn’t mind banning some people too, the mean bitches gotta go. I also would let ATRL members change their usernames for free, I think people would really be her for this, because they want their usernames changed. I would change my username definitely. Well this is what I would do, it’s a flop answer, but I said what I wanted to say, I am proud of myself for typing this masterpiece Also I would ban all the green team members.

Here I have for you, A compiled list of true tea.
Things that are needed, and things I would do immediately to help ATRL
rise to the top again.
(open these one at a time so it doesn't run off the picture, cause then you can't see it, then y'all complaining)
SERVER
If anything, that is the BIGGEST problem of ATRL right now. This server is a complete mess.
I know they say that it is taking awhile...but it's been months, and it's quite unacceptable.
The over-capacity messages literally suck the life out of this forum.
(I've gotten a few just trying to preview this to make sure it looks right)
For the simple fact that it is almost impossible to click anywhere without getting this error
message, almost makes this website impossible navigate. So, If you're spending all your
time trying to actually go to a thread and catch up on the latest tea, you'd get highly
bored before you could even fill up your cup.
So, I'd make that my first order of business!
AMOUNT OF GUEST
I don't know if you guys have ever noticed, but at just about any given time, there are over
1K guest on this website. And that is a huge reason why the OC messages constantly get
their LIFE.
I mean...
So with that, I'd probably limit the amount of guest at any given time to around 500.
You can't do ANYTHING if you don't have an account on here, so they're pretty much
clogging up the space that we DO have for people with actual accounts.
THREAD REVIEW
Something else that is also taking up a lot of unnecessary space would be useless threads.
So a new power to the mods would be thread review. A mod would have to go through and
actually check threads for relevancy and usefulness.
WARNING SYSTEM
Pretty much the entire warning system would be GONE.
But not COMPLETELY gone,
but be more slimmed down. File Sharing (and requesting) would still be punished because
we are here to enjoy music, not steal it.
Graphic and Explicit content would be allowed, but it would HAVE to include warning tags.
Without them, it would be considered a violation.
Duplicate accounts and Spamming would no-doubt remain in the warning system.
ATRL+
When it comes to ATRL+, I bought it because of the little cute "+" sign (don't judge me).
But I feel as if for $20($35 for a year), There could be a lot of things that could be given to
us. Little things such as a name color change that appears all over the forum.
Or more functionality such as things that you can do to a thread
(Like designs changes and stuff).
Little things like that could make ATRL+ so much more worth buying.
So I would take that into my hands and fill up the ATRL+ program with
as many features as possible for the money. The more features you pack into it will bring
more possible customers, which would generate more revenue for the forum.
(The whole name change every 90 days would be something like 30 days now)
BETTER MOBILE SITE
A lot of people use ATRL on the go, and it is practically impossible to run the full web site
on a device without it moving at the pace of a snail. So me and my new team would be
hard at work on a new mobile website with more functionality and a better overall design
with no mobile ads.
These are pretty much the biggest things I would get done first.
They are the most important and are major things that would make this site
better than it already is!
I'mRihannaFan
If I were a mod, I would definately change a lot of things.
First of all, I'd add some new sub-sections (current one being Music News, Charts, Base, The Lounge...).
I'd a sub-section for the "Rates and Countdowns". There are a lot of them going on and not always you can keep up with them.
Another sub-section I'd add is "Awards". All ATRL loves making awards, as "3rd Annual Navy Awards". It would be really cool imo.
Then, I'd add a green-based on as color scheme, and delete some of them (too much blue-based, some of the clear ones are hideous).
And, I'd cancel some of the current mods. I'm talking about the biased ones. Ugh. So annoying (not making names). Instead of them,
I'd add great members of each big base, so Navy, Monsters, KatyCats & Beyhive (not Britney fans because they are already too much).
I'd open registration, but max 5 members each week.
Personally, I'd ban faster some little monsters, so they won't mess up every poll voting her idol without thinking.

Help new members get acquainted on the forum. I'd make it that every new ATRL member gets a PM explaining how to navigate around the forum when they log-in for the first time. The PM would look like this:
Quote:
Hello, ____. Welcome to ATRL! We're glad to see you signed up. To help you get started, here are some helpful tips.
Navigating The Forum
Music News - For the latest headlines about singles, albums, and new releases. Charts- Provides you with all the latest industry trends, Billboard and iTunes stats and radio hits. Videos - Share music videos, performances, and other random clips. Celebria - Find all the latest news on celeb gossip, tabloids, media, photos, TV, and movies. Base - Talk about your favorite artists with other ATRL members. The Lounge - Discuss any political, random or general topics here. Blogs- Chat with other ATRL members about your personal life. Your Top Ten - Post your daily charts and comment on other people's charts as well. Games - Join tournaments and participate in fun musical oriented games.
Editing Your Profile
You can edit your signature here.
You can edit your avatar here.
You can edit your profile and personal information here.
Additional Advice
Read over the Rules & Guidelines before posting to make sure you avoid Warning Points. If you have any questions at all, leave a comment in ATRL HQ or send a message to an ATRL moderator and somebody will get to you soon. Have fun and we hope to see you around!

Work on the server. Let's be real, ATRL's server has been the epitome of terrible lately. There's only so many times I can handle seeing that "Over Capacity" message before I want to throw my computer out a window. As a new mod, that would be one of my main priorities to focus on. I would first talk with Athens to see if I can do anything helpful and then go from there. I'm experienced in coding websites so I could probably be useful for something.
Lighten up the rules of ATRL. Yes, I know there must be rules, but ATRL is too strict sometimes. As a new mod, I'd try my best to make ATRL a more enjoyable, more care-free place to post. Not to say that people who troll and flamebait will get to run wild, but some members (especially new ones) don't know they're breaking rules if/when they are. For example members who request a file share, post a thread with the title being in all caps (you get warned for that now), using stan nicknames or spamming a thread. I'd make a rule to make sure everyone gets a Reminder or gets 1 WP if found in one of those situations because most of the time those members meant no harm.
Lower the price of ATRL+ all year round. I cannot afford ATRL+ and from being on this forum for nearly 2 years, I've seen a lot of other people say the same thing. ATRL+ had a special $10 discount for a good week or 2, but some people weren't aware of the deal and missed out on it. Lowering the price of ATRL+ would not only bring in more money for ATRL (since more people would be buying it) but also benefit helping ATRL get a new server.
Get rid of Stand Your Ground. That thread is vile 90% of the time with people wishing death threats on random celebrities, cackling about abortions and poking fun at broken hips at the expense for a few laughs. It's just a place for negative people to spew the hate they can't express in real life/spread around the rest of ATRL which is honestly sad. I feel like getting rid of that thread would cause an initial havoc in ATRL but would bring something good in the long run (less hate).
Miscellaneous tasks. I'd make it that you couldn't troll with your avis/sigs. If it would be warnable in your posts, it should be warnable in your profiles. Nobody wants to see ugly pictures of Madonna or Rihanna's bruised face from the 2009 Grammys as your avi. I'd also add more smilies that I've seen posted in this thread since smilies are a huge part of ATRL. Lastly, I'd scout for potential moderators that live in Europe so we can have moderators on during the night.

If I unlimited power on ATRL
- I would merge Celebria and The Lounge and called just News. ATRL HQ, Post Your Picture, ATRL Birthdays, Technical Support will be in the Base section then I had the space to create new section.
- Fashionista, this will be the new section. We need it and it will attract more girls! We could talk about models, Fashion week, Met Gala, Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, graphics, hairstyles, we could have our own Fashion Police, this would be amazing! We could praise or talk trash the styles of a certain awards show like they do on the show.
- I will allow the download links only if they say something like: Check on my wall. If they posted on the thread I will definitely warn it, why? ATRL is an exclusive forum, the outcasts can stay jealous. I wouldn't open registration for new members unless they buy ATRL+
- Forget the Blogs! Another new section, this one for books, we could have: Coming Soon, ATRL Book Club, The #1 NY Times Best Seller, Blogs, Recommend a Book, FanFiction, The Book or the Movie or the Tv Show? Even comics can be part of this section. I LOVE BOOKS!
- More moderators, we definitely need more: three from Australia, six from Europe and six from America! They have to speak more than one language and they can be warned too if they break the rules! If they get banned they get fired!
- I will warn when someone says Taylor Swift is The Lord, that's stupid and lame. I will allow nicknames for their faves on their respective base, obviously.
- I'm definitely warning all the flamebait posts direct to Bieber, The Wanted and One Direction!
- Another thread that will comeback is No Holds Barred but it will be called Burn Book and that's it.
Here are the remaining entries. Sound off, let us know what you think! Who are your favorites?

#AdamAL4Mod
A Leap for ATRL
Hello, ATRL! I am very happy to be the newest addition to our prestigious team of mods on this forum! As a new mod I have decided to make some changes to our site:
ATRL is finally switching to vb4 as we promised and with that we will finally be opening registration! All of you lurkers will be able to join ATRL! Once we work out the servers problems, which we're working hard as ever on, we will switch back to normal with registration still open.
Sadly, some trolls have been avoiding permabans by constantly only getting enough WPs to get a normal ban rather than a permanent one. Therefore, after a member has been banned three times, a jury of their peers will decide whether or not they should get a permanent ban. This "jury of peers" will be a group of ATRL members picked the same way mods are picked called Jurors.
These Jurors will have other tasks. When an ATRLer has a problem with a WP they received they can post it in HQ and a Juror can either revoke it or leave it. As a regular member you can only have a post reviewed once a month.
The threads "ATRL Hot 100" and "Weekly Thread Archive" will be unstickied and the threads "New Member Orientation", "Random Thoughts" and "Gif Request" will be stickied.
We've recently become aware that some members have been given WPs for File Sharing for posting SoundCloud links without [soundcloud]. Therefore us mods will be more careful and check the links before we give WPs.
From now on, when you sign up to ATRL you will be asked your age and birthday. If/when over 18, you can now enter a new section of ATRL called NSFW, where you can post things involving adult material and topics. Your age is not shown on your profile and is not required, but if you don't answer you cannot enter NSFW.
Thank you for reading! I hope I can do nothing but good for the ATRL community!
Signing off...

Close Stand Your Ground. The first thing I would do, would be to close Stand Your Ground. I myself have posted in there quite a bit, but the fact of the matter is we just don't really need it as an active thread. For starters the thread encourages negativity, which more often than not spreads out of SYG to the surrounding forum. If we can survive without NHB then I think we should also get rid of this. I would still allow it to be created as a Blog, just like the NHB Blog and the Dirty Talk Blog, but even then I think it would probably die out just like the NHB Blog did. We could also use it's closure to raise money, there are always the possibilities of having threads which can only be accessed once you buy ATRL +, for example if we were to continue to have a SYG thread, we could make it only visible once you sign up and pay. It would be hidden from the advertisers, but still there for dedicated members and could solve two problems in one go.
Improve awareness of other sections.I'd like to see more activity within the Games section, when the Admins were trying to make the server faster recently they asked if members had any ideas. To my surprise there was an overwhelming amount of people saying "Close the Games section nobody uses it". I myself didn't even realize we had a Games section or what it was for the longest time when I first joined this site. To remedy this I would like to include the Games section on the Live Latest Thread Updates bar at the top of the forum, that way whenever a thread is bumped, it would show up at the top, I think it would get the section a lot more recognition.
Ease the server.Regarding server issues, I would keep registration closed. I think that until we have a stable server or make the switch over to a new one, there's no way we can open up to new members, especially considering the high demand for people wanting to join. Once we have the new server I would bring back the search bar and see if the server copes, if it's fine then I think it would be time to open registration, but I think the priority should be trying to fix the issues we have for existing members rather than getting more people in.
Improve staff/member relations.I would also like to be more involved in the ATRL HQ thread, I think that each person should be heard out over their WP's if they have a good enough reason for a reversal than I think staff should be more open to hearing discussions regarding bans and WP's and not just shut down people saying "you can't talk about this or be thread banned", this is a forum after all, we should like our staff not fight/hate them.
Thanks for listening.
DripDrip
Drip The Admin?
What Would I Do
The owner or Admin of any website must be prompt, punctual, and quick to respond to any and all problems that his underlings do not. I would also keep tabs on how the mods are doing, because chh some of them I've seen to abuse their power and that is not cute. Better FIRE some of them. Just not cute.
Anyways. I would never inplement any type of 18+ or adult section, this website needs to be clean because there are certain ways we get our money, and any time of adult content would not give us the support to run this website.
Also some more themes would be implemented. We are long over due for a GaGa, Ke$ha, Rihanna, Katy, Britney, Xtina, etc. etc. type of themes. Every stan will be happy to have a theme set under their fave. It is a MUST.
What About The Members?
There needs to be a clear situation of fairness present. What happened to Kylespearsfenty was a crime, and it is a mess. He should have not been permanent-banned but only received certain warning points. Meanwhile we have trifilling messes that will not be named that continue to walk around this forum acting a MESS and no plan of action is being taken.
The Mods need to know how to properly use their powers and NOT help out their friends.
The Conclusion
ATRL will be a better and more free place, but at the same time fair and regulated. A place where members will not be afraid to post while others get to act a mess because they kiss-ass to some of the mods. It will be a better place, it will be a COLORFUL place.
Attention ATRL Administrators, Moderators & Senior Members. As pivotal contributors to our every growing site, I've sent you all this memo informing you of some changes the site will undergo in the coming weeks. As some of you may know, there are some exciting upgrades & features we're waiting to incorporate in the sites mainframe upon our transition to the newly designed vB5 server. In addition to this, there will be a few changes in procedure, rules & sub sections of ATRL. Some of these changes may only be temporary, depending upon the reaction of our members.
The first step in joining the site will be for non members to fill out a short, but informative application. No sensitive information will be required. This is more or less a census of our members. A way for us to keep track of what works & what doesn't (without fumbling through the mess that is HQ and help request), while staying in tune with what's interesting to our members at all times. This is also a way to detect duplicate accounts & potential trouble makers.
Thread Chains:
ATRL's spin on solitary confinement. In specific situations where mods would normally thread ban a member for reasons like trolling, baiting, fighting etc, they will now have the option of locking said member to a particular thread only. For instance, instead of thread banning a Gaga stan from the Kesha base for trolling, a mod/admin will now have the authority to lock the member to only post in whatever thread the mod chooses, like Gaga's base. They will still be able to browse other threads on the forum, but may only post in the thread they are "chained" to. A neat way of getting back to all the **** starters that give their base a bad name. Lock a member in their faves base for 3 days and they'll be DYING to praise another artist.
Model Members:
A new custom title, not unlike our 'Senior Contributor' title. This applies to those that are thought provoking, charismatic, morally upright, have a low number or both bans & WP's and have been a member of the site for more than 6 months actively, with a relatively positive rapport in and outside of their fanbase. These honorary members will be a permitted to sit in on moderators/admin/senior contributor discussions regarding pertinent issues regarding our site. They also will have specific duties & privilege in ATRL Civil Court.
ATRL Civil Court:
There have been several issues in recent memory where I've doubted some decisions of our Moderation team. This is not to say you all are at fault, seeing as how Administrators aren't as present in the day-to-day, post-by-post equation. However, if the President of the United States can make mistakes, so can we. Issues regarding supposed "unfair" bans, WP's, perma-bans & other related issues will be addressed here. There will be 2 sides. A prosecutor (in favor of the issue being amended) and the defense (maintaining what is/has been). All members are allowed to enter this thread, but once proceeding commence only the involved parties may post. There will be a jury of 10 randomly ATRL-O-matic selected members (1 mod, 1 senior member, 1 model member). The prosecutor & defense will be composed of the IMMEDIATE parties involved (open for discussion depending upon those involved) & 2 members in their fave of their choosing. Both sides will present their case, and with a majority vote from the jury the decision should ALWAYS be the right one. If in the case of a deadlock the thought provoking, charismatic, morally upright Model Member will make the final decision. This way blame is taken off of the moderation for issues such as closed thread a la NHB or perma-banned members. I'm sure it'll be a little rough in it's early stages, but I believe in this forum & my version of the Judicial system so here's hoping! Moderation Level: (High)
Simple enough. Refer a new member to the site, and earn '+Points' to win cool prizes, discounts & features.
'+Points':
An incentive program designed to reward ALL members across the forum for a number of deeds & progressive posting. Points will be given to members for anything from;
Created a thread that exceeds 20 pages while staying open for more than 24hours
Maintaining a 70% or greater "Report Rate". (To encourage "successful reporting" not aimless reporting)
Referring new members.
Creating a 'Base' (Fan) thread.
Assisting others in threads such as "Gif Request" etc.
Milestone post (every 500) and Blogs.
There are a number of other ways for members to earn these points. And in turn, a number of different gifts members can receive using these +Points. Everything from 50% off ATRL+, iTunes Gift Cards, free name changes, unlimited inbox space, reversed WP's (negotiable) & much, much more. The points to prizes ratio has yet to be determined. I believe that to be a group discussion among moderators & administrators.
'ATRL+ Only':
With a subscription to ATRL+ members will be permitted to view certain area's of ATRL that would otherwise be hidden. Members warning points and wall-to-wall conversations will now be accessible. The 'Quick Reply" section is now the fully featured reply. We've also added 2 accessible profile tabs for our paying ATRL+ members. The "Recent" tab & the "Mentions" tab & deleted and/or previously edited post.
"Recent Tab": A navigational tab that captures 160 characters of the last 10 replies left by a particular member. This is accessible by going to any members profile and clicking the "Recent tab". While this is found on every members profile, it is only visible to mods, admins, senior members & ATRL+ holders.
"Mentions Tab": Also exclusive to ATRL+ members, this acts as a notifier anytime someone presses reply to one of your posts. Taking away the need of "searching" your name. Like the "Recent Tab" this is only visible to mods, admin, senior members & ATRL+ members.
In addition we're giving ATRL+ members the ability to see deleted and/or previously edited post. In each individual thread there is a action button. Members w/"+" can will click on that button and among the options will be show "deleted post". If you're on a page that had 3 deleted post the option will read "deleted post (3)". Click that and the post will show appear in the order in which it was initially posted.
ATRL Mobile App:
Realistically, we won't see the launch of this app until 4th quarter this year at the earliest, it's in the beginning stages. The idea is still a bit premature, but it's coming.
For those who just can't keep it in their pants or behind their screens, I give you Not Safe For Work thread. Erotic stories, pictures, gifs, video (not exceeding 15 seconds), Rihanna's fan base, the whole shebang! Of course ANY N.S.F.W. material found outside of it's thread is cause for permaban. There will be a pesky Terms of Use pop-up asking the member to verify it is of age upon entering each time. After that point we're covered. Censorship is not applicable to this section, so for your girls w/ potty mouths...**** **** bitch hoe ***** anal mother****er are all allowed. . ENJOY! (Moderation Level: Low)
Born Brave Thread:
As a precautionary measure, I've instituted what I dubbed the 'Born Brave Thread'. Coined after Gaga's motivation mobile, this threads sole purpose is to act as a safe haven for those who feel targeted & antagonized on our forum. Viewing/Posting access to the thread is only permissible by a mod/admins authority. Members will have to PM mods/admins for entry. Here we will provide caller anonymous help lines & websites. The latest in research on anti-bullying, and bullying prevention. This will be one of the more heavily moderated areas of the forum. Anyone found trolling or causing problems there should be PERMABANNED. I take the emotional safety of our members very serious as should every other member. (Moderation Level: High)
NHB 2.0:
With the closing of this time wasting thread came a slew of perpetual complaints from the biggest of trolls. Initially we assumed that the number of personal attacks would decrease with the thread closing, but our more problematic members are still finding ways to attack one another. Now they have a thread to do it. I don't like it anymore than the rest of you, but I'd rather them be children in a playpen, located indefinitely in the corner of my basement than all over my 3 story Brownstone. For those who can't get enough of insulting members outside of NHB, maybe a temporary thread chains is the cure . There is nothing new about the thread. Just doing it's job of filtering out the mess.(Moderation Level: Low)
ATRL Rewind:
Ever wished could see the news & threads of your favorite artist back in 2006? Ever wished that while viewing that thread, the site's layout was the same as it was that day in 2006? BAM, ATRL Rewind!!! What is sure to a favorite with the Senior members, it's a virtual timeline composed of news, videos, charts, celebria, so on & so forth over the past 14 years. Essentially you click on the ATRL Rewind tab, type in the artist, when their traditional styled timeline appears, scroll through the days, months & years, backwards and forwards. All sections (Music news, video's, celebria, lounge/base discussion & games involving that artist) have been incorporated thus eliminating a search of different sub categories. The layout will correspond to the exact layout ATRL used on that day. Now you can see what your fave was doing on December 10th 2006. Mine had just received news of her sophomore album The Evolution beating out both Gwen Stefani & Eminem for the #1 on BB 200 w/sales of 330,000+. Glory days indeed. Relive it ALL here. These threads are not open for posting. Just more of a museum of threads past if you will. (Moderation Level: Low/None)
In closing team we're in for some big changes. I want to excite our members. Not just for the news & headlines, but for the one of a kind social experience that only we at ATRL can offer. ATRL+ sales will almost double w/the slew of new features added. Member frustrated w/the server's lacking ability will now be at easy knowing we will have transitioned from vB4 to vB5. New members will be at an all-time high w/the Refer-A-Friend program. And post count, thread count & overall traffic/hits will skyrocket after the overhaul. I need my team now more than ever.
One more bit of info. I've decided to make Cap10Planet, MP2K, Rivington Reject, iLays & Hooligan mods. We'll need the help & they'll maintain order just as good as the next.
ririfan21
I will be trustworthy, helpful, and loyal to everyone on this forum. It's good to post a lot and contributed to the ATRL with my opinions, suggestions, tips, and tricks. When I do give out warning points, they deserve it. Because I am very realistic saying “hey, you knew what you doing and had it coming.” So if I have to straighten members on this site to clean it up, that what I have to do. Being a moderator can sometimes be fun! Meeting and having great conversations with the ATRL members. When new members join the site I can make them feel welcome. I can remind them about the rules on ATRL. Right now, it’s about being recognized. I am just continued to take these steps. Then maybe one day, I get this great opportunity.
There are many responsibilities for an ATRL Moderator. It’s a very serious job and a big reasonability because you have to deal with different problems in a respectful manner. Being a moderator is a big step up from a member on this site. You have to be a music fan, devoted to the site, and not here to make any trouble. You have to visit different threads and manage to build relationships with people, but also being able to enforce any rules that are potentially breached. Never be afraid of a little humor and fun but NOT at other's expense. Don’t make threads that will cause a chaos or World War III. Make interesting threads. Be helpful to members, and state your opinions with respect. Be a very active member as well. Keep the troublemakers in line. If the member chooses to do the same actions; the member gets warning points for their action.
The existing moderators right now are terrific. They treat us so well and make us feel so comfortable on this site. But when you cross that line they have to step in and cut that cord. I just know that the admins and moderators are working very hard on fixing this site. But there one little moderator that I would like to fire. Ace Reject is a mod that really shouldn't deserve to be one. Ace is a mod that ignore people and he even don't check his own thread often. I would rip that mod badge from him.
There are some things that should be added on.
- The notification bar need to be upgraded where we can received notification, when some quote you.
- I would added an online box. This is where you can see who all online. And this box show be shown on the home page.
If I was to become a mod, I would definitely try to make this forum as fair and open as possible. To start off, no, I wouldn't fire all the other mods and try to conquer the forum. And no, I wouldn't ban anyone just because I'm not particularly fond of them. There are a lot of things like that which would not benefit many people other than myself, so I'd try to avoid that. I'm also going to make this pretty practical.
c h a n g e s.
First I would like to start off with some minor changes that I feel would contribute to making the forum a better place:
Limit on Thread Creation
Just a small limit on how many threads you can create in a week, let's say seven per week. Since I feel like some members create too many useless threads.
The Warning System
Needs to be more lenient. I'm tired of seeing people getting warned for simply expressing their opinions. Also, the penalty for file sharing needs to be reduced. I understand that it shouldn't be allowed, but four warning points that don't expire for four months is a bit ridiculous for simply posting a download link.
A Better Server
Self-explanatory. I think we're all sick of the "over capacity" messages.
Little to no Advertisements
I understand they need some way to pay for the site, but enough with the pop-up ads on mobile.
The Return of "No Holds Barred"
Maybe it wasn't the most necessary thing, but why not have it? At least it gave members a chances to release some steam towards others in a designated way.
The Return of Annual Name Changes
I don't think it's fair to essentially force members to buy ATRL plus if they want to change their name. I thought it was very kind of the admins to do this, and I wish it would continue.
More Features in the Blog Section
I feel it's one of the most overlooked and neglected sections on ATRL. Sure it's full of stupidity, but it could have the potential to be a nice read and a cool section. Firstly, I don't know why a blog creator has the ability to edit other people's comments. That's just asking for trolling on their part. I also think it should have a mobile layout, since it currently does not. There should be an easier way to make a blog private, perhaps you could enter a list of all the members you want to allow to see the blog. Generally, I think it should be a place where you can discuss things that you wouldn't otherwise discuss in The Lounge. Basically the whole section needs to be revamped.
Open Registration
It's been closed long enough. Let's allow some fresh faces onto the forum.
g e n e r a l f e e l.
Despite all of my desired changes I just mentioned, possibly the biggest change I would like to impact the forum with is believe it or not: actually having more serious discussions about music. I feel the site has become too overrun with stans who contribute little to nothing to the forum. Which is fine, but if you notice sections such as Base, not many actual discussion about music go on. It's just a bunch of fan bases, pointless polls, and threads that ask stupid questions. Too much of the "discussion" that goes on here is about the same artists. Things can get quite boring for members like me, who tend to not associate with a particular stan base.
Therefore, I would push for the stanbases to be moved to a different section, perhaps titled "Fan Bases" or something, and leave Base for music discussion. I feel there's been a lack of this. Music News has been far more inactive than compared to when they allowed everlasting album threads in there. The Lounge is kind of a bunch of miscellaneous stuff, which can be a nice read, but again, there isn't much music discussion. So, the new Base could put focus on rates, countdowns, interesting discussions, and perhaps somewhere active where people can get music recommendations. Redundant threads that have been done time and time again should be immediately closed. That's about the biggest change I would thrive to make to the forum, and I think it could make this a better place for nearly everybody.
Su-Barbie-A
Greetings, ATRL members. This is a message from your new Moderator, Athens was kind enough to give me the position and unlimited powers so I could help him make this site a better place for everyone. Most of you probably won't agree with this decision and I understand because not everyone would like someone who they don't know to suddenly become a mod with that amount of powers but I promise you that I will do my best and won't let anyone down.
Now the reason why I'm sending this message is to let you know the things I have planned for ATRL, the next list was made to help boost the activity because without it is one of the most essential things and without it this site would still be at square one. Don't worry, I have in mind other things but right now I will focus on the activity because even though we have had one of the biggest traffic, our amount of active members has reduced for different reasons but I hope this can make it change .
To-Do List:
Close ATRL for a couple of days: This is not what you think, we won't close ATRL for the sake of doing it, in fact, we'll close it so we can test a new server and if everything goes right we will change this old server to vB4 while we wait for the latest update of vBulletin. We'll use Twitter/Facebook to keep everyone updated about the situation.
Open registrations: Once we update to vB4, we will open registrations now that the chances of the site crashing because of this new activity will be low.
Open donations: Even though we already have ATRL+ there is no way we can keep the site with our own money, we have planned to open donations so we can afford this new server. The users who donate will get special features and an icon () that shows they supported the site (it depends of how much money they donate), think about it as lite version of ATRL+.
Create different contests: As most of you know some sections like Games are not as active as we would like them to be but with part of the money the users donated we are going to create different contests and giveaways that will make other users put their eyes on our loved Games section. Not all the contests will be made by the Staff so if an user makes a contest that we love then we are support it with cool prizes.
Create special events: Asides from the contests, we will have different events dedicated to our faves or to certain music genres like a special day for Pop artists, Indie artists, Rock artists and such. This way users will be able to participate in those threads and might discover a new artist to stan for.
Change ATRL+: We know some people think this is useless because of the prize and the lack of good features so what we are going to do is lower the actual price and now you will be able to pay $3 for 1 month, $8 for 3 months, $15 for 6 months and $25 (or more if you want) for 1 year of subscription.
ATRL+ users will get their own smiley, have a customizable profile with options like getting an image as their background or adding a YouTube video, access to the exclusive ATRL+ section, the chance of getting reversed one of their infractions (only avaliable for those who paid 6 months or more) and more exclusive features to come.
Use social networks: ATRL has an account on Twitter and Facebook but these are not used that much, one moderator will be in charge to update the Twitter account and one moderator will be in charge of the Facebook page. We have in mind this big promo plan where we will try to make users from both social networks to participate in some activities we will do and try to make them join our site.
Summer is almost here so we hope to do all of the things in the list as soon as we can and if everything goes right then ATRL is going to have a busy summer full of surprises for everyone. As I mentioned before, I also have in mind other stuff that is not related to promotion such as bringing back NHB (only members with certain post count will be able to read and post there), making some rules less strict, etc. We are going to take care of that later though.
If you have any questions or feedback don't hesitate to message me.
- Yours truly, Su-Barbie-A.
