You realize that lots of times demos aren't written specifically for an artist.. so you'll have demos for artists that have phrases that are the wrong sex, etc.. just because those are the lyrics now, doesn't mean that they couldn't have just as easily changed it to something else.. There are plenty of examples of songs demos being in the mindset of one gender/sex, then changed for the artist who gets the song.
That gives me hope that the sales can still be picked up from there
