They don't.
One thing I disagree with Nicole about is Gaga's ability to come back. People are forgetful and to be quite honest, they have no damn clue what Gaga wore last week versus 3 months before. They just know she's a weirdo now, and she has always been one.
If the lead single is catchy and a dance hit, people will come in droves and buy it. The brand doesn't carry that much weight when it comes to single success.
The only case it does is when you have such incredible momentum as a new act like Gaga did for BTW, and kind of squandered (looking at BTW single sales today.)

Perfect. Glad someone else understands it.
Some claim to know so much about popstars, yet don't get that people don't give a **** about Gaga that much. She's so famous because of us, her "Monsters". The public would lick her ass again if she gave them what they wanted.

Yes, but even BEFORE the single was released she said that if Gaga tries turning serious and full of "messages" in her singles, it's all gonna go south. And look what happened.
People just act like she's a troll when she actually has validity to her predictions and statements prior.

Nicole's knowledge is common sense. Anyone could have told you that her being preachy would hurt her. Of course it'd hurt her. We all know what the public is here for. It doesn't take someone with "knowledge" to get that.
But if you want to get technical, Gaga tried giving Alejandro and Telephone these huge messages and look what happened to them. The only diff with those two songs is that they were radio-friendly, which goes back to what you said about all she has to do is make more commercial music.
