I'm SCREAMING
Quote:
Queen of Peace : one of the best not only album, but the band's entire discography. It opens with a set of strings and horns, as if to unite the old with the new sound. But the battery starts early kicking, making it a bit 'a hybrid of What Kind of Man and How Big Blue How How Beautiful . The text is fantastic and I can not wait to see the fans of Youtube-video with pieces of Game Of Thrones . This is also one of the tracks where the voice of Florence stands out most and almost drawling and whispered in the verses then explodes in the chorus. Throughout the song itself is a collection of anger, frustration and desperation Even in this track is a small (and beautiful) interlude of trumpets immediately after the bridge and before the last chorus, returning at the end of the song. One of the most epic ever made by Florence & Co. I sincerely hope that the upcoming concert opens with this song.
Various Storms & Saints : one of the slowest and the suffering of the album. If I had to compare it to anything, it would probably Pretty When You Cry of Lana Del Rey. It's one of those songs on the album that never explodes, but trailing painfully (and wonderfully) until the end. This piece is mainly driven by the naked voice of Florence and the acoustic guitar in the background (although slowly emerge choirs and a hint of body). Form almost a triptych with Saint Jude and Long & Lost , similar vibe and a sense of resignation that sets them apart. At the same time, however, there is some hope.
Delilah : after the sadness of the previous song, that's one of the busiest tracks of the CD (also one of my favorites). How sound is probably the most similar to the style of Lungs . Slowly begins to pick up speed and top floor and then break out after the first chorus. Imagine Florence moved temporarily in the 60s, this is the thing that would produce. Here too, the main theme is the deal with a disappointment in love, trying to overcome the temptation to hold on the phone waiting for his call. Making a comparison a bit 'risky, is a bit' the MANiCURE of the cd.
Long & Lost : Various Storms & Saints Part II . The sound is reminiscent of a mix of Leave My Body and Blinding . The voice is very soft and find ourselves again in the background a guitar blues and melancholy: this is one of those songs that never explodes. A melancholy lament of those who only want to go home (both materially when metaphorically). It is as if Florence was dispersed in the fog, unable to find your way back home and so the vocals as the production contribute to this impression. One of the best songs appreciable after several plays.
Mother : Opening guitars again (there are a lot on the album). How vibe intro reminiscent ' Hurricane Drunk . The song develops into a crescendo to the chorus in which the voice of Florence takes over and begins to scream (a bit 'as in Drumming Song ). The tone of the verses is very sexy and swing, while the chorus is very in your face . The act of closing an album so tormented makes the outburst final, where you throw everything out for the last time. As it is nearing the end, the song becomes more and more chaotic, with vocals and distorted guitars (reminds me a bit 'the final Cruel World of Lana Del Rey).
Hiding : It's a little 'younger sister Ship To Wreck . The pace is very similar and probably this is one of my favorites on the album. It is mainly driven by the battery, which shines in this piece. Among the sweetest songs of the CD, Florence sings of a relationship in which he can never get to the other person. Even here there is a there is a certain vibe 60s. Despite being a bonus track, it goes well with the style of the album. The melodies are beautiful and extremely catchy .
Make Up Your Mind : rhythm, voice and text more insistent and aggressive throughout the cd perhaps. Florence finally broke the balls to be treated like a doormat and can not help but give an ultimatum to her man. The post-break up song that we were all waiting. YAASS FLORENCE YAAASS #FIERCE.
Which Witch : Breath Of Life 2.0 . Big choruses and truly cinematic. It would be perfect as a soundtrack. The battery reigns supreme (with a return of the ' ensemble of trumpets towards the end) while the voice of Florence seems more tormented and obsessed than usual. In the end the music gives way only to the vocals . Perhaps not the most powerful piece on the album, but it certainly has its own reason.
