So 80M based on outdated certifications alone.

Yeah, that would be the other thing that I didn't bring up - the fact that her certifications aren't all up to date. Alas, their saying that official sales for her physical singles and albums doesn't exceed 80M is wrong, since they didn't take into account the lack of certifications for many of her singles and albums. But still a great way of being able to approximate it better.

We can definitely conclude that Britney is the sixth best-selling female of all time (Madonna, Mariah, Celine, Whitney and Barbra are ahead of her, in that order) and the only artist on that list (along with Eminem) that debuted after 1990.
It does exclude some prominent artists in the list, but they stated that it was a result of poor tracking or certification of sales, making any sales claims for those artists unreliable. So this list is totally based on reliable sources and NOT label claims.

If we look at physical certifications for Britney's single sales, they should be around 8 or 9M WW.
On the flipside, Barbra Streisand has about 12 or 13M in certified physical single sales, I believe. Britney has sold more albums than her, just barely, but she is still one of the greatest.
On a side note, did you know that "Woman In Love" was a heavy influence on "Oops!...I Did It Again?"

Well yes but she's heavily undercertified.
She is undercertified by 4M alone in the US for albums
30m+ for singles in the US.
I'm aware of Madonna, Celine and Mariah's sales but what are Whitney and barbras for it to constantly be flip flopping with Britney.
How far apart are these three legends

True. I don't know why fans are trying to discount the fact that she's sold over 100M albums and 90M+ singles

She's sold 85M+ albums, 80M is just a number based on outdated certifications and 100M is label inflation.

Nope. Even her press releases during FF era said her album sales were approaching 90M.
Sales are 85M+ most likely 88M or so.
Shipments are 100M+ so for marketing purposes they go with the ones that have been sent to stores.
It's what they all do.

Barbra has sold upwards of 70m units in the US, according to RIAA. It's not hard to believe that if you factor in WW sales, she's above Britney in album sales. I know you place Britney as 5th most successful female w/ Madonna, Mariah, Whitney and Celine ahead of her, but I definitely would place Barbra ahead of Britney, especially with over 40 years of sales vs. 16.

But Britney is the 5th most successful based on albums and singles and dvds and ringtones.
If you look at Barbras discography she hasn't had a 30M album shipper.
She has a few 5x platinum shipped albums but many of her albums are platinum or 2x platinum it's just she has alot of albums.
None showing massive WW sales and out of all the singles she released barely 1/4 are platinum and gold so...

Barbra's global sales were less than stellar. "Woman in Love" was one of the biggest global hits ever (it only missed #1 in one country, where it was #2) and after that she became a huge worldwide act (i.e. anglosphere) but before that she was really only charting in the U.S., where she was only a moderate hit until "The Way We Were" came out in 1964.
I'd put her album sales in the same area as Britney's but Britney's TEAs are considerably greater. I generally rank Barbra Streisand as the sixth best-selling female artist of all-time, right below Britney. I may make a receipts thread for her just so we can have the info.

Her Diamond certification (actually 11x Platinum, Diamond is 10x Platinum) for Up! only signifies sales of 5 million copies (well, 5.5 million copies for 11x Platinum). Up! was a double disc album and RIAA doubles certifications for double disc albums. It's Nielsen Soundscan numbers are 5,413,335 as of March 23rd, 2013.
