I think most predicted the economy to be hit if we left. What will be interesting is to see how we recover and if this short-term pain actually becomes a long-term relief.

You can call it democracy but uninformed, ignorant people shouldn't be allowed to get behind a booth and destroy people's futures, etc. Look at what 8 years of Bush did to the US. We still haven't really recovered.

I think that's why monarchies have prevailed for much of history: they're inherently more stable and not at the whims of the populace. Wasn't there some philosopher that said a benevolent dictator is better than the freest democracy?
