People get bored when the winner is obvious half way through, so they're trying to fix that. If anything the fact that it doesn't actually change the placings too drastically is a good thing, the result isn't what they're trying to change.

Most people seem to be cool with this new format (there's been a lot more outrage in the past over things like manipulated draw) so I think it's here to stay.

The winner was only obvious in 2009 and 2012 though. This new method is just messy, they'll change it.

The previous methods were even messier. The full ranking completely killed off certain televoting favourites and gave the juries way too much undue power. The 2009-2012 system was better but diaspora/neighbour voting was still way too prominent.

I honestly hope the EBU do something about the juries in order for this to work though, some of them act worse than the televoters. Moldova's "professional" jury giving 12 to Romania every year isn't going to look good.

The juries only penalized migrant votes, other than that look at the Balkans, the ex-Soviet bloc and the Nordic countries... still all voting for eachother. At the point just keep it 100% televote and let the people decide. In the end, except for 2008, in the televote-only era the best song fairly won.

I guess they think going faster through the combined televotes will actually make it more exciting, but that won't be happen in the years that televoting and juries agree.

well you won't know who got the televoting points until the end.

just imagine its something like 2011. italy would have been no 1 for 40 minutes with jury voting and then the televotes are announced and they are only 11th. it would make the last 10 places VERY exciting cause a lot of them could win at that point.

the problem is that nobody will really care for the jury voting cause you know a lot can still change.

Margaret's song is incredibly good. I can see it doing great in televote but I'm praying that the juries won't trash the poor sis Poland once again. Truly the Katy Perry of the Eurovision.
