The rape scene. I'm not sure if Cersi said no it's not right because she realized that her and Jamies relationships is wrong or because it was right next to their sons dead body. A part of me wants to hate that scene because they somewhat made her seem weak, she always seems weak in Jamies presence but at the same time I liked that it showed a different side then her cold and hateful one.

Wow...that rape scene. Talk about total character destruction, only moments before he was being very supportive to their other son Tommen and then he wants to have sex right next to their son's corpse. Absolutely nonsensical, not very good writing there.

I'm appalled. Even if the show producers were forced to portray siblings' sex as something negative, they didn't have to do that. Jamie and Cersei already ****ed by Joffrey's dead body which, I thought, conveyed a quite obvious message. No need to add rape to that. Especially since Jamie would never.
They did the same thing with Dany's 1st time with Drogo. In the book she was thirsty af and in the show they made her cry. Like

I have a feeling they are going to try to paint a picture of Cersi being the good one and Jamie the bad. It could work since joffery just died. Or maybe I'm just over analyzing.

The rape scene was probably supposed to emphasise both characters desperation and loss of control in the wake of their sons death. I mean, it happened on the alter where their dead son lay. Pretty blatant symbolism.

Cersei shows out of character weakness through mourning her son and being overpowered by Jaimie, whilst Jaimie is shown acting out of character through a desperate and lustful immoral act. Both are contrasts to how we view them typically and it's probably designed to humanise them.

I mean, if they had consensual, loving sex on the alter of their dead son...I feel that sends a very different message. Primarily that they're cold, immoral and careless. Dehumanising them, which makes it harder to relate and care for them as characters for later developments.
