I'm not mad at this. Game Freak have a tendency to play it safe with legendary shinies (look at Dialga and Palkia) and they did the opposite in Gen 3, majorly shifting the primary colours of the box trio. Kyogre got hot pink, Groudon got gold, a dishonourable mention from one voter as the worst shiny, and Rayquaza got jet black. Black truly does go with everything and he looks fierce as a result. Between this and shiny Charizard it's a wonder they don't break out the colour more often. Metagross got a major shift too, from blue to silver. It definitely looks good and impressed you all, with one voter saying:

He did well for a mid-stage pokémon. Part of that may stem from him being so separate from both his pre-evolution and evolution. He kind of makes you think he should be bug type rather than dragon. I actually used to adore this thing, and though it has cooled I still like it more than its' evolution. What can I say? The diamond wings are a slay. A bitch to train though, his attack is less than Trapinch's and it takes forever to evolve.
She is a "legend, beautiful, great company" according to Topmaster 2. A bug is great company? You sure? Phresh pinpoints the source of her success on the countdown, "interesting for a middle stage." And that's really all there is to it.
