Noooo, releasing Stronger first would have killed the album. It would have ended like AIEW. MKIA held the album in the Top 20, then Stronger came, smashed, and made the album smash and live for the longest time. I think this era was definitely a success and had a quite well thought out concept with releasing Stronger as the second single.
WAIT, was Dark Side actually certified? Coming for that GH promo, I guess.
No matter how bad it 'underperformed' DS will always be one of my most favorite Kelly songs, and one of my favorite singles of 2012 hands down.
No matter how many times Z100 may play it now...nothing can pull this beautiful song back up. And it's really sickening to me that songs like "Gangam Style" are put first over pieces of art like this.
If only radio had supported it a bit more from the beginning it would've been a decent hit. While #42 isn't the worst, we all know it isn't the best, it at least had some iTunes longevity & stuck around on the chart for at least 14 or so weeks. And, hey! It sold over 500k...#goldstatus.
Now that "Dark Side" is in the 96-99 area on iTunes, I felt it'd be appropriate for there to be a "RIP" post for this lovely song. The public was obviously here for the song, but not the radio stations. So all we can say is...I guess..."good game".
"don't run away...don't runaway...promise you'll stay..." Bye bye boo.

nice speech
but the song is not dead yet for me , the song will be dead for me when the song stops charting in the HOT100
DS flopped due to lack of promotions and flop music video
Flop RCA
RCA had done great before DS's release
At first I thought the release's date was too late but imagine if it had been earlier, DS would have flopped harder
Will we have the amazing MVs like BOY, NA, BTHE again?
