This random chick came out of nowhere and delivered one of the strongest rhythmic pop jams of the year. The song is so spunky and tongue-poppingly good and has charisma written all over it. The song itself is quite simplistic in terms of production and melody - and the lyrics are far from inspring, but the delivery on it slays me - you can def sing along to this as I did in the club once SCREAMING my lungs out to the chorus (the effects were felt in my throat the following week )

Why on earth did this song/era flop? Ciara looks STUNNING in the music video, stunning on the album/single covers etc.? Is the world really that pressed to the point where they won't support an artist because they just caynt TAKE their unattainably gorgeous legs?? Sigh. I Bet is such a beautiful song - it has rhythm, a groove to it that took us all back to the early 2000s R&B that we all know and love and that's a big part of why I latched onto this so quickly. The beat in the chorus is also so booty poppable to~ but like emotional booty popping

Every song Ariana Grande's voice touches is complete gold. There's something about her voice (sans the obvious technical flawlessness) that just makes me feel so darn warm, sexy and idk... MOIST. This girl takes me to so many places with her voice - the shrill, yearning baby lioness yells on the chorus are to DIE for, although the enunciation is all over the place. Ariana could be singing about concrete and it would sound like a million bucks to me. Adore is heavenly and Cashmere Cat's airy, ~factory chic~ production takes it all somewhere ELSE.

I will defend this girl to the death and shut down anyone who comes for her for being "boring", "bland" or anything less than perfect. Because this girl is perfect and so is the song. I love the slight hip hop scratchy disk tinges on the production underneath the angelic melodies Tori's fluttering voice serves - from the bottom of her vocal register up to the soaring Mariah high heavens. I love the fiery, dark, amost vengeful message of the song and how she REALLY pushes it in her delivery of it. The song is such a smash and I don't care if it only charted in the Top 60 or whatever - I don't give a ________

To be fair Tori gets a LOT of promo... she has a super solid fanbase though as shown by her tour sales and her album sales but as for getting a hit single... that just boils down to the song. Maybe in 2016

I like to think of this song as almost the future of contemporary R&B - it's so clean, polished and chic but contains the spirit of a rhythm and blues track - a balance that is missing from a lot of what is popular in R&B today. Sadly this single never really quite took off but I know that it is widely appreciated on this forum and among rest of us crazy music stans. One of Ciara's most exquisite pieces of work. Sexy, sensual and the best of all things in between.

The only ballad from my Top 20 so far, Save My Soul is by far one of the most riveting songs of the year and showcases some of the most mind blowing, emotionally delivered vocals from JoJo to date. The live instrumental production is so perfect on this song and I love how atmospheric it all feels together with the crazy powerful melody that sounds like a strong gust of wind shattering through a valley when the chorus hits. I am praying this song gets a video and some sort of promo because I still believe it has the most potential to become a hit among her Tringle.

I got legit chills when I first heard the iTunes snippet of this in late June. Everyone on ATRL was anticipating the release of Carly's album in Japan and the amount of users perchedT on the EMOTION thread waiting for its arrival on the internet was crazy. Gimmie Love did NOT disappoint in full and was definitely one of the first songs that caught people's immediate attention. It has an infectious dance beat that takes you to a smoky, dimly neon-lit room somewhere at a exclusive party, function, or something hawt like that and keeps you engaged throughout. Such a masterpiece.

This song is such a random addition to my top songs of the year. Justine Skye is really no different from many of the R&B songstresses we have currently vying for the impossibility of Beyonce/Rihanna status. This song is also, by its bare bones, not that special, but for some reason every bit of genericness or formulaic R&B mantra that was used to create it seemed to come full circle and come out the oven baked to perfection. All the ingredients were measured out perfectly, the oven was preheated at exactly the right temperature and the end result is delicious, crunchy and oozing with a creamy caramel centre that happens to be her perfectly laid vocals. Normally unnecessary rap verses tend to distract me from a good song but Tyga's appearance on Collide fits just as perfectly and adds a sort of warm, lyrical interplay that fits so well with the track.
