In US, yes -- tipping is what's suppose to be done. But I'm annoyed with it, because the whole basis of it is the restaurant trying to get even more profit by pulling the psychology of 'if you don't pay their salary on top of the meal, you're a bad person, since we're practically forcing you to pay what we should be paying'.
They need some kind of law where the restaurants go back to paying them full amounts, honestly. There's really no reason as to why a restaurant shouldn't when you really look into it.

Agree with this completely. I wish they would just tack it onto the bill, already, like they usually do for large parties, and be done with it. I also feel especially compelled to tip because of racist stereotypes about black people not tipping.

No matter how many times you ask the question, the answer’s not going to change. Restaurant servers are not paid the same as cashiers and delivery drivers. And of course, I tip the delivery driver who brings my food to my house. Why on earth would anyone think that someone who brings food to your table is more deserving of a tip than someone who brings food to your damn door? Like WTF!
Come Christmas time, I also give the postman some kind of tip or a gift card to say, the itunes store, or something for all the packages he brings to my doorstep that won’t fit inside the mailbox. Not to get too stereotypical, but I spend a significant amount of time at the hair salon, and if I didn’t tip my hairdresser, I’d probably have to find a new one, and that’s not always easy to do.
