22. HTRK - Psychic 9-5 Club

HTRK released a Pop album with extremely delicate vocals and dark (but not powerful!) synths. I like this because it sort of gives off a vibe of complete loss and pain without being overbearing. It feel genuine and heartfelt.

21. Tinashe - Aquarius

Tinashe manages to straddle the line between melody-obscuring "Alternative R&B" artists like FKA Twigs/How To Dress Well/The Weeknd and mainstream DJ mustard loving Hip-Hop/R&B crossovers. This is great news for fans of BOTH scenes because she does both very well because she balances them out thoroughly. Also throughout this album is a HEAVY Janet influence that is pretty amazing. Tinashe manages to be the right combination of her influences and also an amazing presence herself. Most of the songs she takes on the position of being a slick, hedonist overseer and this makes her sound more like an observer. Maybe that's just me though, but I absolutely love it.

Yes at Lydia Ainsworth She was my absolute favourite discovery of this year and her album is addicting.

And yay for Tinashe too, I love her.

I really, REALLY wanted to like Nikki Nack more than I did. I mean, I still enjoyed it, but consider what it followed. w h o k i l l has only went up in my estimation in the last couple of years, and it wowed me because there was nothing like it, a truly unique album as everyone else was copying each other. Maybe I would have appreciated Nikki Nack more if I went in EXPECTING another album like w h o k i l l, instead of expecting something new and exciting. As it is, like I said, I still enjoyed the album, but I wish she would have taken a few more risks.

well I didn't recognize GUSTO or Flatland. I mean I can check them out on my own but I definitely visit your "2014 Albums" playlist often and have not seen them. no biggie!
