Nowadays, if you want an album, you can just download it the day it comes out to get it as soon as possible. The access to new music is much easier. When Oops!... was released, people would have to pick up a physical copy from the store, so it makes sense that the sales would be less front loaded and more dispersed throughout the week. This was shown when Red and Oops!... both sold 500K first day, yet Oops!... kept its first day sales record.
This time around, Taylor is really trying it, though.
