A lot of people feel that if their favorite song EVAH isn't #1 for 15 weeks, then the charts are awful, when in reality; The Hot 100 wasn't created to suit your specific wants and needs; and it isn't like peaking at #76 on the Hot 100 means a song sucks.

Exactly. Some of my favorite music ever would never be played on any station in the US, but it doesn't make it bad music. It's good music TO ME, and that's all that matters.
I might not like all of the songs that hit number one, or chart, but I can UNDERSTAND the appeal it might have to others.

Forgive me but i hate T-Pain, Young Jeezy, Soulja Boy, Sean Kingston, Hurricane Chris or even Usher they're so annoying for me, i'm not racist but i don't like urban or whatsoever music, but don't get me wrong i just don't like rap or that kind of music and it's so unfair for me to see those crappy song @ #1 while many other great songs deserve that :-/ It's kinda sad

Songs from Jordin Sparks, Sara Bareilles, Coldplay, Katy Perry and Yael Naim should be getting to number one in the States, it would be so good for their charts!

The US charts just need to either make digital sales the majority once again like before August 2007 OR change to a UK style of charts and just count sales for the official chart. Or they can be like Canada and give all music a chance and not just what they want [radio i mean].

LMAO I can't decided what's more ignorant:
A) You're not racist, but you don't like music recorded by "Black People" (btw, does that make you a bigot?)
B.) The idea that certain songs (i.e. song "you" like) deserve to be #1.
FAIL. [/mazen]

Oziee, that's exactly my point. While CRAP music reaches #1, songs with substance don't get there even if they do become hits.

I thought that was what he meant. Oziee, try to make sure you are using the correct term next time, please.

Um, Oziee, you didn't really mean it the way you said it, did you? Just because some of the horrible music that went to #1 was made by black people doesn't mean ALL black people make bad music. I hope you realize that is a very bad stereotype.

I'm sorry you feel this way but the Hot 100 has been pretty much a downer every week since 2005-2006. Most of the time a hip-hop/r&b song I think is undeserving is always in the top 5-10. Low didn't deserve 10 weeks at #1 with that trash IMO, along with Lil Wayne's Lollipop and Soulja Boy's Crank That. I had a problem with Sean's BG last year but he's tolerable.
This is why I've been following the music outside the U.S. and the Independent stuff so I don't have to drown myself into hearing songs about sex, money, bling or that kind of cheesy stuff.

Could be, but I don't think so. I've seen some others terrible comments.

Sigh, I feel like this could've been a somewhat intelligent discussion, but some people...
When some of you figure out that black and urban can't exactly be used interchangeably, yall'd clear up a lot of stuff.
