at SUBG being bigger than Beautiful. Explain to me how it was bigger when Beautiful went #1 and top 10 in more charts, 21 vs 14. We don't even have to talk about impact cause that goes obviously to Beautiful without the need to argue about it. Current sales, airplay, recognition and awareness prove it. The massive delusion is just too much.
Hmm, really? Well then we should ask RCA about the sales of Lady Gaga & Katy Perry or Capitol Records about the sales of Britney Spears & Justin Timberlake. I am sure they have access to their sales and would not lie about them. Come the **** on, be logical for once, do you even realize how stupid that sounds?
Oh, really? What about Whitney, Queen, U2, Santana, Nirvana, Bon Jovi, ABBA, Chris Brown, The Beatles etc? You all were bragging about Clarkson's "smashing" (lol) with a Christmas album yet, now suddenly it is an excuse for her to not chart at all when there are people already dead and with no releases in decades charting? Anyone with a brain can see how deluded and laughable your "arguments" (if we can call them that) are but whatever floats your boat.
It's useless to argue with you, you're one of the most deluded users I have encountered in here since I joined, to the point that it's scary. I stated Breakaway takes the US, and Stripped takes the rest of the world, there are the receipts for anyone smart enough, logical and not deluded enough to see the truth.
Goodbye.

The Stripped era was bigger in some countries outside of the US. Don't use the phrase like "the rest of the world." Acting like more than 200 independent nations in the world used Christina more than Kelly is just ridiculous. Remember that the US is the world's biggest and most important market and their native country. The two eras got similar success. But neither of them had worldwide impact. But Kelly actually made impact in the US with the Breakaway era. SUBG was incredibly succesful enough to become bigger than other R&B and Hip-hop songs. It became the new template of pop and one of the reasons why pop music revived. The LGBT things and the numerous covers of Beautiful by other singers do not mean impact. IMPACT must involve a major change in industry. Beautiful was succesful so It's obvious that people felt inspired by it because the song's theme is encouragement. But it doesn't mean any kind of impact. It also didn't start the self-empowerment anthem trend. The trend started to boom in recent years.

The problem is the poll question:
"More iconic pop/rock ballad?"
The poll question is not dealing with personal preference.

I guess the OP asks two questions. I think both songs are pretty forgotten in that case.

Someone addressed the majority of your post above me and said what I need to say.
I'll say that it is not delusional at all to say SUBG was the bigger song. Both were huge, but yeah.
But I'll just say that you seem to be incapable of having a discussion without fuming and being incredibly rude and condescending, calling me "deluded". I'm sorry but nothing I said was delusional.

Oh please. Before Breakaway, Kelly was dogged on by critics saying hat her career was about over because she was only riding on the success of American Idol. And Breakaway is not a "rainbows, sunshines, and some fantasy inspirational uplifting" album. The album discusses themes of depression, heartbreak, and instability in terms of love. Critics applauded it for its darker themes. And, Kelly actually raised some eyebrows for her edgier style and people questioned if she was going against who she was.
Cute post, but you clearly know nothing about the Breakaway era.

BTHE is sucha a basic song, it was a mediocre hit only because of SUBG anf kelly's popularity.
Fighter is far better, lyrically, production-sound wise, vocally, on absolutely every level. I love the meaning and the message of the song, it's very inspiring.

So its like saying Scream and Shout is more iconic than Slave 4 You because S&S has higher peak than S4U?
The logic. That was pathetic and weak. Try again.

Fighter is both the best song and the best vocal performance, it has probably the best video by a pop girl ever and her belting has ended the dreams of many aspiring singers the moment they try to sing it
