Good for you, Akon. An actual, intelligent businessman. There are a few specific people in the industry who could learn a thing or two from him. Clearly he made the right choice.
Gaga is not a company with on the stock exchange What he was must have been referring to (I think? I'm not a business major either but her brand isn't a stock so that makes no sense) was his percentage of everything Gaga, Inc. made (tours, single sales, album sales, licensing, merchandise, etc etc).
That's exactly what I meant though. He owned shares in everything put out by her the same way you can own shares in a stock, so he sold his share for a lump sum instead of staying on and receiving increasingly dwindling returns over a longer period of time
Filthy ****ing liar. Disgraceful. Making it look as if he is some kind of prophet and foresaw her decline... when in reality he left before her reign at the top of pop music.
He is an absolute nobody and is responsible for some of the WORST music in the game. Ugh. Asshole.
"She's like family" Definitely not sure about that. Loser.
I don't understand the people saying that he did the right thing.
ARTPOP sold 2 million copies (or at least shipped), Applause and DWUW did decently, so unless he got in Katy's or Adele's team, I don't see HOW it was the right decision to leave her.
He thought Jeffree Star was the next GaGa, he said that in an interview before so I don't respect his opinion of anything about him. When he said I knew it was clear that he was only supporting these artist while he thought they were hot and not because he actually believed in them.

This plus he's nobody should speak like that about other people, business or not no excuses.
Twisting the truth. BTW was released through Interscope, Streamline and Konlive. KonLive's involvement with the release was minuscule. Interscope took charge and made most of the business and promotion deals.
She probably had KonLive still hanging around just to be nice - Akon's career completely vanished from music in 2011 and she didn't need his name on anything to sell her records anymore.
Gaga wasn't first or last . Rihanna had also some money issues a few years ago because of her team. there are plenty of cellebs who have filed for bankruptcy - Michael Jackson, kellis, Toni Braxton ect although they have been on top of the game
When you see the opportunity to sell and earn money you are in ( eg. Katy today ) but when things are not going well you windrow .
And gaga had BTW and half of TFM era so she had money after akon
