Oh I definitely agree. I feel like MCHG could've been some of Jays best work had he delievered lyrically because the production was top notch. I dint like Yeezus and the reason I even say it's better than MCHG is because it does in fact have a couple if highs and Ye does have a couple of musical/lyrical masterpieces on it. Born Sinner is personal preference. In fact on some days I find it extremely boring, but on other days I can listen to it from start to finish, but it's still lyrically sound.
I quit listening to Jay years ago because I just don't feel like he really gives it his all. I have to go back and listen to albums like Reasonable Doubt to remind myself just how good he once was. I'm all for good production, but it has to be accompanied by good lyricism. You can't let your production carry you. In my opinion the production is supposed to help portray your overall visual, but the bars are what's really supposed to tell the story.
Maybe Jay has gotten too complacent. Maybe he lacks motivation, but ,then again, I thought maybe him having his first child would be an artistic catalyst for him. At this point in his career he's at a different point in his life and he shoukd try rapping from a different angle or perspective sort of how Em did on MMLP2.
