Yes. Some songs that have blown up from 30 second commercials include: Happy, Scream & Shout, The Man, Are You Gonna Be My Girl, Music is my Girlfriend, 1,2,3,4, Yael Naim's song that became the first to ever crack the Billboard Hot 100 top 10 from an Israeli, We Are Young, etc. It's been a MAJOR force in promoting music for forever.
Some famous songs that recently used commercials to push them: Applause (SAVED by that Kia commercial, lbr), Party Rock Anthem, Bad Romance, Roar, etc.
Radio interviews don't do anything and never have. I can put money on the fact that you can't give me a single song or album (especially not one from a major label) that benefited from a radio interview. Feel free to try, though.

It cracked me up that with all this 'no promo', some people a year or so back were saying that Girl On Fire flopped because she promoted it too much

The whole album release was the perfect viral marketing strategy. Internet is a huge window when it comes to promo.. i thought y'all already knew it by now.

Beyonce herself and her brand was promoted, her album was not. She didn't make one mention of a new album throughout her tour, the Superbowl, her commercials, etc. One could say she did promo for herself, which gained her like-ability, which then made people to want to buy her album. But she literally had zero promotion for this album besides an iTunes banner.
You guys forget that to promote an album, you also need to promote the singer herself and her brand. It's the only way people will buy the album. That's why Beyonce did so well, her brand was elevated all throughout 2013 with no mention of an album. By the time the album secretly dropped, her fans and people alike naturally bought it. But back to the topic at hand, promoting the artist has nothing to do with promoting the album.

The song isn't even available for download as a single And the music video, that comes with the album, came 11 months after the commercial Those other songs are available as a single download. Grown Woman is not

The pressed in here trying to come for Beyonce. The only money her label put into promoting the album before it was already successful was maybe buying the iTunes banners.
