Celeb News: Lady Gaga: "People think I'm finished"

Where has everyone been getting the impression that she has been on ATRL?
Step out of your close-minded microcosm, and stop flattering yourself. Music reviewers have been slamming her since day one claiming that she has lost her star power merely according to their own inflated expectations of her. Music websites have been comparing her to Roar since day one, branding it an underperformance because Roar hits no.1 and it's radio chicken feed. Some of you should try to stop acting like you've never used those websites and reviews as receipts. The criticism didn't start at ATRL, so get over it.

Well, babydoll, that's because you haven't served pop perfection since Bad Romance. And you've sold less and less, to boot.

I like her perspective, but she's acting like she's not chart-obsessed. Her tweets say it all.
Also, @ all the monsters co-signing and acting all high and mighty but were setting these outlandish expectations for her. You girls also are guilty of what she is speaking about. When "Roar" was climbing slowly, all you saw were "Katy has no fanbase. Gaga is going to destroy her. HAHAHA!."
Gaga is being passive aggressive. She's reading these tweets, and her minions are letting her know what's up, and it's clearly bothering her.

"I think that once you've had a few No 1s in your career that you've kind of proven yourself and I don't feel the need to prove anything anymore."

So true. Lady Gaga has been there and done that.
Already sold out stadiums, dominated the industry, has her signature singles, etc.
Now she can do whatever she wants, and let's not come for Applause, it's already a Top 10 and the girl has promo to come.

NOT when your career started 5 years ago, so to speak !
She can act as if she's a veteran as much as she wants but the fact is that she's not !
She's still building a career and at this stage #1s and, most importantly, songs with a HUGE worldwide impact are REALLY important for someone who is always promoted to be as big as she has always been promoted , period.
It's really funny how now that Applause did not perform the way she and, especially, her label were expecting it to perform ,they all act like 'no, it's not that big of a deal'
Yeah.... give me a break !

She does need to proove herself a little bit after this though, it sounds kinda cocky but i get where she's coming from. I'd be annoyed too.

What is this nonsense you all are arguing. She literally RT'd and responded to every good tweet about Applause's success and screamed at people to keep spinning it/buying it/streaming it/etc.

No one on ATRL actually attacks an argument. They just deflect the question by calling the poster pressed. Of course she cares about it all. I'm afraid for her if ARTPOP underperforms. She'll say something like it's ahead of its time. Although to be fair, she said she doesn't care about the money. She obviously cares about the charts, however.

"People focus less on the music and focus more on how the music's doing; how it's faring from a numbers perspective, from a financial perspective. If you think I give a damn about money then you don't know me as an artist at all." She adds: "I think that once you've had a few No 1s in your career that you've kind of proven yourself and I don't feel the need to prove anything anymore."

I agree with her, but wasn't she spamming her twitter with links to buy the song the first week when it came out? And linking to the video for views? And requesting it for radio? She says one thing but does another. I like the ideology that she's stating, but her and her fans all have a different thought than what they're saying.
However the majority of her fans in this thread licking her ass once again agreeing to whatever she says is hilarious, especially the ones who come after people not having top 10's and much they sell but go and co-sign to Gaga's "it's about the music, not the charts!" speech. Take a seat.

Just before you all try and take the high ground n stuff.

It's #4 on the BB Hot 100, that's more than decent

Yes, I agree with this. Gaga has made her mark on the industry, but she still needs to prove that she has longevity. She's not at that point in her career where she can spew whatever she wants and still be called a legend. At least yet.
(I'm not saying Applause is a flop tho, most artists would love to have its success, but it is clearly underperforming for being a song by a woman who is put on such a high pedestal by herself and her fans)
