So a "true pop" star isn't successful? Good point.

That's not what I said. Try again.

So to justify this post you attempt to point out that Lauryn Hill isn't a pop star but instead a dark skinned black woman who had extreme success doing something that America was already done with. Oh dear, this racist country we live in. This is forgetting the fact that "Doo Wop (That Thing)" just BARELY missed Top 10 on the Billboard Pop radio chart.
|
Nobody believes that Lauryn is pop star. Lauryn in her prime would never label herself as a popstar. Idk why you are trying it.

I can't at you pretending India Arie isn't successful because she has Grammys. What kind of justification is that? So because she has critical acclaim she isn't successful? Forget the 10 million albums. You seem to equate acclaim with a lack of success. You need to spend some time with a dictionary because acclaim and success can go hand in hand, just as it does with India Arie.

India is successful. She isn't a popstar. We are talking about popstars

-Janelle Monae
-Tamar Braxton
-Juliet Simms
-Dia Frampton

- Marina would not have gotten the same recognition she has now if she was black. Especially with that voice
- Cassie relied on beauty and sex. Dark skin =/= Beauty and sexappeal. We been through this.
- Jennelle Monae is pretty solid
- Tamar hardly got the push you keep going on about. And Tamar is strictly RnB.
- I don't know ha'
- I don't know ha'
As I said do you really think CMM would have smashed if she was darkskinned? I didn't say that ideal skin tone = success. But for now a dark skin tone pretty much = Failure (as a true pop artists)

The only thing she shows is that there is a shortage of dark skinned females attempting to make pop music in the first place. Not every coincidence decides the world, as crazy as that may be.
|
Well thats you thinking that dark skinned women don't want to be come pop stars. There is a shortage because they end up lightening their skin

Again, there are plenty of Pop music makers, white pop music makers, that haven't made it yet. out liars exist, just like Kelly Rowland. I don't understand why you can't wrap your head around that.
|
Usually because they suck. If white women got Kellys promo for example Katy Perry in ha' I kissed a girl era, we already know how that turns out.

No one is bending facts. This picture shows the fact that Emeli is light skinned

The woman is not now, nor has she ever been light skinned. Whether she will bleach her skin in the future is neither here nor there.

Clearly she has lightened her skin. I'm not going to put the fact that as soon as she got signed her skin got lighter and her hair bleach blonde to coincidence. As you seem to be doing for everything. Wake up.

Yes, double standards in gender exist but let's not pretend that there are any fat male pop stars. Let's not pretend that there are any ugly male pop stars. A male pop star responds to pressures to. The pressure to stay fit being the one that has the most dominance.

Except I'm talking about pressure to europeanize their features. Improve your comprehension skills

I don't care if you think I'm racist more like. You're not even clever, like I'd take anything you say on board

Just out of curiosity how am I racist?

On what evidence are we saying she bleached her skin?
I'm pretty sure that YouTube video you posted proves that she was signed before her hair was blonde so...
|
. You can't be that stupid?
Lemme spell it out for you.
You don't go to your label/managment with an image
They mold you into the star they want
Emeli Sandé looked like an average black girl when before signing
After signing, she is blonde and fare skinned.
Can you do the math? I actually don't speak stupid so this is as far as I can dumb it down for you sorry
