the problem here is them knowing damn well that communicating like this on a public forum will generate a load of drama and publicity. That just stinks of using it for promo.

they could very easily keep communications private. Like Im sure they already have been doing at other times. It seems they let things slip into the public at very opportunistic moments.

But thts the point I dnt think they want to be private with their relationship. I think they both want to get to a point where its NOT a big deal for them to be seen in public together. I couldn't imagine having a close friend who I was expected to ignore or dismiss in public. I think that's why Rihanna did the interview with Oprah, in hopes of making the issue less news worthy in the future so tht she and Chris can have a public relationship/friendship without it doin damage to their careers....again you can think its unacceptable but she clearly doesn't want to pretend tht CB isn't a part of her life

Exactly this. And even if that's not completely their intention, it just really falls at such an obvious time.

Which is pretty awful considering how they really could be using the public's attention on their contentious past just to get their name out there before the single drops.
