If Born This Way is remembered, it'll be for all the wrong reasons.
She named a huge charity foundation after Born This Way. BTW will be remembered for the reasons you mentioned in addition to BTW and TEoG as well as The Egg and Jo Calderone. Everyone still talks about her dressing as a man or in the egg.
4 is a great album, but didn't storm the charts and was sadly snubbed at the Grammy's. Critics and fans will know it is a timeless album, but as far as everyone else I doubt. Shame too because it is better than 21
Fact is, no one remembers "4" today because Beyonce couldn't tour, promote (as much as she typically does) or get a memorable song out of it. If "Love On Top" or "Run the World" performances were so memorable, the singles wouldn't have flopped AND the album would have sold more than it did at the time. So to say that "4" is memorable when it was never really remembered outside of its initial promotional slots in the first place is false.
Adele has proven that unconventional songs can slay regardless, surely the King B could validate those facts - but the public has said otherwise. The music isn't as "timeless" as some B stans may convince you it is.
Britney toured worldwide, and had four back-to-back hit singles that all peaked within the Top 7 and sold an healthy amount of copies worldwide. Femme Fatale was critically acclaimed for leading the charge into the future of music, unlike of "4" which was drowned out in melodramatic ballads and paying too much homage to the past.
Both albums are in the sales ballpark range WW, so sales isn't really a deciding factor.
Artists like Kelly Clarkson, Taio Cruz, Selena Gomez, etccc are already covering "Femme Fatale" songs....in Kelly's case, a YEAR after the album's release.
Yet the album was one of the bestselling albums of the year and featured three of the 40 biggest hits of the year, US and WW.
Sis it underperformed. Just accept it and move on. IWG wasn't one of the top 40 biggest hits WW. TTWE was 27th and HIAM was 40th. I like FF but it's Britneys least memorable era.
Going gold is pretty easy in most countries tbh. It was a moderate hit WW and fairly big hit in the US however aside from her stans it isn't that memorable. It's not like it matters. Its still a great song.
