It's sort of true! but in this case it's just loads of ******** imho. I was so excited to hear the new material. But this is just underwhelming. :/
This album is basically a filler album with one good song and it's already been out for some time and with zero promotion it thrived.
The good thing is that I only have to wait for a year to get the new stuff which will hopefully be better than the **** we got!

As far as the yearly release issue goes, it's not normal for an artist to release an album every year. Why? Because most artists take years to come up with their hooks and melodies and write their lyrics so they are genuine. Or at least, that is how it used to be for most artists. With Rihanna, she has entire camps of songwriters writing her songs (I know that she cowrote 4 songs on the standard edition, but it was always alongside three other prominent songwriters) and producers like Dr. Luke and Stargate pumping out their familiar sounds. This equation is nearly fool-proof. You match the best writers with the biggest hitmaking producers with a pretty face and sass from Rihanna and you have another album full of hits and another year of monetary success for the artist and label. As a music fan, while I like some of Rihanna's songs, this is one of the many reasons why I will never call myself a fan of hers. She's less of a music artist and more of a facade behind which all of the actual talent congregates and filters through.

As for the yearly concept itself, I really love gettin new music from my fav's and gettin' it on a regular bases will satisfy me but I think a true album is build under a proccess.

Rushin' albums "filled" with hits is just for the purpse of making money.

Most artists like to record music, that's why most of them are in the music indestry but most of them record dozens of songs till they build their album with the concept they want and that fit their vision and sometimes waiting makes you want the album way more so yearly albums kinda take some of the artistic way of making an album.

I mean knowing that the ar**** was recording few songs by the help of mega producers and songwriters and choose the ones that sound like hits just to make one kinda makes me feel less excited about the album no matter how good it is.

For one, with some artist it takes longer for they album and singles to burn out so they cant be pumping out a new album when they current album is still selling good im mean + some artist want to take time to write their music and come up with a concept for there next era. It takes time to plan a new era and come up with new music that will last a lifetime instead of a 3month span.

I think releasing an album every year is risky as the public will get bored sooner and later. Also a lot of artists are involved in writing and producing so it takes them longer to put out music. I think artists should aim to release an album every 2-3 years. Every year is too much but over 4 years is far too long. Also artists shouldn't just craft albums to make hits.
