Well in my own personal experience, Natalia is known but neglected. When I lived in Seattle, people knew who she was but didn't like her because they thought she was "copying Gaga". I know one can't really use their own personal experience because it's such a small portion of a bigger picture, but it still alludes to her being ignored because of her similarity to Gaga. I couldn't see her having much success because of that, and if Nicki were the same as Gaga in image, I think that she would have had more trouble coming up. My argument is that Nicki can't be a Gaga clone if her image didn't hinder her rise to the top.

The difference between Natalia Kills copying GaGa and Nicki doing the same is that Natalia is aiming at the same exact audience as GaGa, while Nicki is aiming at a totally different audience and maybe a small portion of GaGa's audience. Natalia Kills is nothing more than a pop singer. Nicki's appeal is broader, so I don't think her 'copying' GaGa's image is affecting her success. Nicki may wear similar attire as GaGa (crazy, quirky), but people know that Nicki is a rapper.
So, I don't necessarily disagree with your point. I just don't think people know who that other girl is to care enough.
