I think y'all are being a little too hard on RudeBoy. He didn't have ill or shady intentions with this thread like some people have lately when it comes to Britney. Sometimes, discussions like this are what makes ATRL such a great place.

I'm no Britney Stan, but I can't imagine her gone. Even you Britney haters out there you cannot deny that you have popped your ***** to her amazing music. It would be sad to see her go

I think she does and really, she should. She wants to spend a lot of time with her kids, which she can't do with her career right now. I think if she doesn't flat out retire, she should wait until her kids are quite a bit older.

Used to be a legend? Are you ok? There's no such thing. Once a legend, ALWAYS a legend. Britney is not a legend. She's an icon. Someday she will be a legend. Your argument is invalid anyways.
She's not at the top of the game. Okaaaay.... we know that.

Bey performed mostly overseas and had one major US performance and that was a month prior to the album release date. Don't use US figures but then talk about overseas promo. Focus on Britney ok. Bey's name shouldn't even be in this thread.

Yes she can and she's doing it. The only ones complaining are her haters, which is odd because why do they care?

Should Madonna retire?
Should Mariah Carey retire?
Should Whitney Houston retire?
etc.
But Britney Spears? That's BEYOND ridiculous.

In this case it wasn't the thread itself it was the opinion that came after it. Saying that Rihanna and Ke$ha are better performers then saying that the public doesn't care about Britney anymore was just too much. Plus, time and time again people start off statements of "I love *insert name here* but..." then go off on tangents about the artist. Just say you don't like what this bitch is doing and get it over with.

I didn't bring Beyonce into this, but... what are you on about? Her best and most talked about performance of all time happened in the U.S. at the Billboard Music Awards.

I think considering she started out a teen pop idol, went through a REALLY REALLY rough patch and come back just as strong, she should release one more and be done with it. I agree with the Oprah analogy

This is so wrong. I never wanted to say that Ke$ha is a better performer, but sadly, in my opinion, that's the way it is. Ke$ha may not be the best performer out there but at least she tries to be her best and she has a lots of energy in her performances, something Britney lacks nowadays.
And again, before you claim that I'm a faker, just check this out:

BTW, I love "Femme Fatale" album and I still love Britney.

and that nasty, skank, bitch, Blu Cantrell.

A lot of artists go through downturns. Sure, Britney isn't "smashing" the singles charts à la Katy Perry or Rihanna, and she isn't selling 1.1million in a week, but she continues to make music that pleases her fans, and it would appear that she remains a viable touring act. Although the general public as a whole haven't received this era as enthusiastically, that certainly doesn't discount her from having success in the future. The music industry is a fickle business, but one "misstep" doesn't have to spell the end.
But two... well, that's a different story. You can ask Ciara for the relevant details.

Exactly that's the major performance I was refering to. You were using US numbers but bitching about her promo which was mostly done overseas.

Yes. She clearly is no longer interested in doing this, and it shows. She's made enough money to last the rest of her life and then some, so I think her handlers should just let her be and stop treating her like a cash cow. I honestly believe that they're forcing her to put up with this. Which is incredibly sad that at this point in her life she still can't stand up to them.
