I think people are looking at more of the cons rather than the pros.

Now Grammy wins will be even more prestigious than before because it's going to be harder to win considering 29% of the categories were taken away.

Besides no one is a lock to be the years biggest seller because we're 3 months and 1 week into the year. Susan Boyle outsold everyone in the final 6 weeks of the year. So anything can happen.

And with the category changes, there is no more "sweeping". Adele will be lucky to walk away with more than 2 awards.

It is now a Pop Solo Performance, they took out the vocal aspect of it. Even instrumental only tracks can get nominated It is a common misconception but just because a track has a belter singing over it, it doesn't mean it is a great vocal track. That's why John Mayer, Norah Jones, and the likes kept on winning those vocal awards.
