YASSSS @ SETH. Eating Makeup is a good song but the people who think its the best have questionable taste.
Agree with Santi's writeup... and those two songs are really ugly.
Conrad is a good song, but his best feat this year is Gemini Feed
Come With Us is nice but even then its nothing compared to the pop magic on Make a Scene or her debut and then songs like Unrequited
N:
Nick Jonas Not you skipping out on the amazing album though Close is an amazing collaboration, he and Tove did thaT.
R:
Rihanna I was v happy to see that ANTI was worth the really long wait she put us through, even though it needed a few plays to grow on me at first. Same for Work. Tha poor ballads getting shoved to the side.
S:
Sia I loved her album, she can give me a whole discography of rejected songs if she wants to. Cheap Thrills is great but tha order is Alive > Cheap Thrills > The Greatest.
Shura and Solange are my favorite picks. Cheap Thrills is Sia's best song this year for me.
I like the radio song. I wonder how Sylvan's album will be. SOHN is part of my anticipated albums list. And yeah SBTKRT was one of the most forgettable things of 2016,
I don't really use SBTRKT at all but at least his LPs did serve some kind of purpose, the EP he released this year on the other hand also agree on Sophie, Come with Us is good but the album SUCKS, Wanderlust wasn't great either but its concept was nice and there are a few really interesting songs going for it, Familia literally has nothing.
Happy new year all! I have now recovered from my hangover
I think I'm gonna spend today updating just T, and then get caught up on other Best Ofs since I've been mostly offline for a few days.

Most people don't like St. Lucia but I think they have some great selections in their disc. I completely forgot about "Love Somebody" but I LOVED that song at the top of the year.
You're def off still ignoring Santi's release this year
I feel like everyone I know irl loves St Lucia tho idk. Love Somebody is a great pick tho - I think everyone's favorite from that album.

I feel like Eating Makeup was just... only that featured artist and was kinda annoying. I'd agree with that comment on Sohn! I actually only love Murder/Groovejet from Sophie's debut The only album in full that I like more than 1-3 songs (at least that I can recall liking) is the one with Me & My Imagination

I feel like we had almost opposite tastes here, for once At least (kinda) with Nick & Sia. Sia's just not for me tho *shrug emoji*

Work is def polarizing! I understand people's dislike for it but I find it to be perfect.

Yeah I just need to listen to Nothing's Real more idk. I love the long songs too but I feel like the fact that the album has them makes me just go "oh no time for that" and never listen Wanderlust was nice!

I have a feeling Sylvan will outdo their debut! Or at least, for me they will. Can't wait for SOHN's record.

Solange tho TALENT.
I like his debut LP decently! And like 3-4 songs from the second, but this was just ****. It's funny too with Familia cause I did try a little bit and then I was like "nah this is bad" lol
The number of sections in Encyclopedia T is 5!
Tacocat "Let loose like our life depends on it at the end of every week"
Song: I Hate the Weekend by Tacocat
Why: This is a fun little surf-pop song! It reminds me a lot of Crazy For You (song) by Best Coast, which I LOVE. Unfortunately, the rest of the album bored me, but I think I should give it another chance.
I also enjoyed:
N/A
I didn't care for:
N/A
Tegan and Sara "I've tried, but you're fuel to my fire."
Song: Stop Desire by Tegan and Sara
Why: T&S prove, once again, that their move into the heavy electro-pop field was the right choice with this album, and this song in particular.
The lyrics are a little different from the rest of the album and are just admitting weakness of desire consuming you when you're hooking up with someone. The beat is SO damn fun and the chorus is SO damn catchy in the best way possible. I THIIIINK it might be my favorite T&S song. :x
I also enjoyed:
Boyfriend - Obviously. Perfect for them too, how DARE she lead one of them on like that!
U-turn
100x
I didn't care for:
White Knuckles
Tigertown "And when we dance, all we feel is the beat of these lonely cities."
Song: Lonely Cities by Tigertown
Why: I'm pretty excited for these guys & what their debut LP will look like. I love the cowbell in this song & the shout-y chorus is great. I also really love the electric guitar breakdown in the chorus before it picks up into a full out jam.
I also enjoyed:
Papernote - This one's actually my favorite by them, but it was on my list last year before it was released as an actual song, so I'm SOL.
Make It Real
I didn't care for:
N/A
Tkay Maidza "And will you be here when we start finding what we're searching for?"
Song: Simulation by Tkay Maidza
Why: So Follow Me (which I love) was the first song on the album that I had heard, so I was a bit surprised when I listened to the full album because it was less pop than that and more M.I.A/old Santigold style swag in the songs, especially the ones at the beginning of the album.
I picked this song because it's the best mix of her pop sounds, her swagger in the chorus, that kinda rap thing that she pulls before the last chorus, and the production is nice! This was kinda like the song that Santigold was supposed to release but forgot to?
I also enjoyed:
Follow Me - Great one
Castle in the Sky
Tennies - Another "Santigold forgot to make this song this year" type deal
Carry On - The dude's rap is RIDICULOUSLY bad I swear, but I kinda love it.
I didn't care for:
N/A
Tove Lo "Ice cold, I roll, my eyes at you, boy."
Song: Cool Girl by Tove Lo
Why: I feel like Tove is a bit polarizing & at first I didn't care for her debut (outside of a handful of songs), but honestly I've really come to love her & I've seen her live (AND MET HER SHE COOL), so I kinda will always like her.
Lady Wood overall is definitely a step down from the previous album, but the songs that I enjoy from this album I LOVE - Cool Girl in particular I've loved for ages. It ooooooozes I guess... smoothness? The production can be a bit much in the chorus, but it's mellow & a jam at the same time, and I love the writing on the song too.
I also enjoyed:
Flashes - The breakdown before the last chorus is AWESOME & I like the lyrics
Keep It Simple - Pretty similar to Flashes
Influence - Minus Wiz's part, "BOY MEETS, BOY MEETS, GIRL MEETS... GIIIIIRL"
True Disaster - Another LMH/Style/Your Type clone, but it's great!
Vibes - I know a lot of people hate this one, but idk I quite like it lol
Tove She delivered with LW! Flashes, Influence and True Disaster among your favorite tracks
Lady Wood being in the "I didn't care for" section Tried iT! Yeah WTF Love Is' chorus is kinda messy.
Okay, let's "do" the U/V's, then the W's, then probably finish up the last 3 later tonight! I really thought Q was the only one that I hadn't had a musician for... oopsies.
So as always, recommend me some peeps I forgot
Some replies!

I think you'd like it! Overall, the singles from Lady Wood were better than the album stuff, but there are some album cuts that I love!

Haha yeah I think a lot of people felt that way! For me I think Habits is great, but I'm more of a fan of the Talking Body/Moments type of songs from her - at least off her debut.

I think you'll find a lot of people hate the title track for LW! I just kinda stopped liking it as much & only really the chorus sticks with me. I like that part of the little Fairy Dust movie though

Warpaint "I have never felt this strong, dancing to you all night long."
Song: New Song by Warpaint
Why: I see this as most people's highest from the album, and deservedly so! Musically, it's a jam, and the lyrics are clever! Equating discovering a new lover to discovering a new song that you love so much - both are great things. Tho I find myself finding more of the latter which I'm coo with.
I didn't reaaaallly like the rest of the album though.
I also enjoyed:
Whiteout - The only other song I go back to from the album.
I didn't care for:
N/A
The Weeknd "We don't have to rush when you're alone with me!"
Song: I Feel It Coming (feat. Daft Punk) by The Weeknd
Why: I feel like this was, overall, a quite strong album, but it was WAY too long. Like... longer than deluxe albums should be. It's like 10 great songs and then the rest aren't. I appreciate the slight mix of genres that he tried as well.
This one's definitely my favorite though. It's really pop for The Weeknd, but he really shines on this kind of track (both lyrically and musically - since it's nice for him to be more of a love ode). Daft Punk bring it & it kinda sounds like a Michael Jackson/Discovery-era DP mash-up. Love it!
I also enjoyed:
Secrets - That sample tho
Starboy - Duh
Attention
True Colors
Rockin' - It's a bit weird that this one comes before Secrets, lyrically.
I didn't care for:
Reminder
Six Feet Under
All I Know
White Lung "You know this means nothing if you go die alone, they’ll bury your beauty, transient living stone."
Song: Below by White Lung
Why: I basically listened to this album once, and never went back to it. However, I DO love this song! Not really sure why. Maybe cause it's a bit more mellow/accessible.
I also enjoyed:
N/A
I didn't care for:

Whitney "It's a shame I can't get it together now."
Song: Golden Days by Whitney
Why: I'll be honest, I almost didn't listen to this album. HUGE unpopular opinion, but I listened to No Woman and HATED it. His voice was so annoying and the instruments weren't enough to save the song (for me, at the time). I finally caved and gave the rest of the album a listen and it was a pretty immediate love for me. Even No Woman has grown on me.
This song is perfection. For me, it's the centerpiece of the whole album. It represents that sort of "best friend camaraderie" and feel-good arm-around-your-friend vibe about it, the scatting, his voice really playing well with the instruments, the horns towards the end... it's all fantastic! I know it's a heartbreak song, but for me it's such a perfect song to play on a nice summer day, having a BBQ, and enjoying a few drinks with your friends.
I also enjoyed:
Dave's Song
Polly
Light Upon the Lake
The Falls
I didn't care for:
No Woman - LOL I def enjoy it more but feel the need to put it here since it almost made me hate the album.
LET'S END THIS THING - then I'll get caught up on other BO's
The number of sections in Encyclopedia X is 2!
Xenia Rubinos "We build the ghettos, and we tear them down."
Song: Mexican Chef by Xenia Rubinos
Why: Yes yes, the famous Xenia aka ATRL-indie-kings-know-her-because-contaus I like her a lot! Particularly with her voice, I feel like she sounds like a weird St. Vincent/Shamir/old VV Brown mix... but it changes with every song and different verses. But she also sounds just like "Xenia" too. Idk but I like it!
This is a powerful song about, essentially, brown people being the people who really carry the United States and cooking all our European foods & servicing America. Strong statement & still very catchy, especially the chorus.
I also enjoyed:
See Them - HOW DO YOU SPELL. ANGRY. BROWN. GIRL, ****ing love that bit
Just Like I
Don't Wanna Be
Black Stars
I didn't care for:
N/A
The xx "I thought I had you on hold."
Song: On Hold by The xx
Why: Excited for this release this month! On Hold is a really fun one that goes a bit more upbeat (in a more pop way I suppose) than usual for these guys. I love the breakdown.
I also enjoyed:
N/A
I didn't care for:

The number of sections in Encyclopedia Y is 2!
Yeasayer "She'd still be here if it wasn't for silly me, silly me."
Song: Silly Me by Yeasayer
Why: This was a nice album! I was quite late to it, but oh well. Silly Me is my personal favorite because I really like his voice.
I also enjoyed:
I Am Chemistry
Half Asleep
Gerston's Whistle
I didn't care for:
N/A
Yuna "Even though I don’t say anything to you I think that by now you should know, yeah - even though you won’t say anything it’s obvious that this is a new love, yeah."
Song: Too Close by Yuna
Why: This was a really nice, R&B, soulful, easy listen of an album, and I still really enjoy it.
I think the subtle progression of the song is my favorite part, since at the last chorus it really gets a bit more funky & groovy and that's the true moment when Yuna can fully move to trusting, accepting, and loving this potential partner.
I also enjoyed:
Crush (feat. Usher) - Of course. It's so smooth.
Mannequin
Unrequited Love
Best Love
I didn't care for:
N/A
The number of sections in Encyclopedia Z is 1!
ZHU "We are the people of this generation."
Song: Generationwhy by ZHU
Why: This was a nice EDM album, but honestly I need to give it another listen since I've kinda forgotten a lot of the songs that I liked!
Anyway, this song is an undeniable jam and one of the best EDM tracks of the year. Get into it if you haven't already!
I also enjoyed:
Secret Weapon - Reminds me a lot of older-Kaskade - love it
This was an amazing Best Of. It was very refreshing with all the artists being in alphabetical order, the clear descriptions with all the details you'd need in an encyclopedia Not to mention the amazing taste. I had a good time perching in your thread
