My point is that Gaga promoted that album a lot upon release, while Rihanna has yet to start promoting ANTI, yet here she is spending a 2nd week in the Top 3, with decent (pure) sales for a 2nd week.

You sound very confident, how can you know for sure that ANTI won't sell 2M WW (excluding the copies downloaded during the giveaway)?

She has yet to release a music video or to perform a song from that album on live TV, or to even give an interview that is actually related to the album.

The fact that her album was given away for free 1M+ times is what hurting her sales, period, point blank. Rihanna's albums usually sell in the 1M-1.5M range in the US overall, and that's after hits and promo so I don't know why you all are acting surprised. Regardless her sales may rebound depending on singles performances. It's obvious the Anti campaign was a mess and Tidal needs to die a slow and painful death. Beyonce might have the same fate, you don't know.


ANYWAY, does 'My House' gave a chance at the #1 spot, or maybe 'Stressed Out', though I see it being the first #2 peaking song of the year

Stressed Out won't be the song of the year. But I have a feeling Stressed Out may have a chance at #1 next week unless When We Were Young blows up from the Grammy performance. I feel like next week will be close between LY, SO, MH, and WWWY

also, i don't think rihanna's sales are that terrible. i think there's still a chance of it holding on and staying around the top 20 for a while, depending on how well work does in the end and if any later singles do well. i wouldn't count her out completely yet.

i mean, 52,000 is definitely not impressive, but it's not the end of the world. it really all depends on how well it holds on. i've seen albums with unimpressive initial sales end up doing really well based on how consistent the album is. she might end up flopping, but i don't think we can be completely sure yet.

and in case you were confused by the thread title, she sold 52,000 (digital albums + physical), not 24,000.
