Seat and Coloring Book are both such good albums, fairly deserving of top 3. As for 1 of 1, I liked it but it lacked standouts for me. Like, most of it was in the 7-8/10 range, with only the title track and Shift being higher imo. But yeah, still a nice release
Never listened to Chance's album but I heard it slays and he'll feature on Katy's new record so let me check them out sometime in the distant future!
AOTY of AOTY was super cohesive and was a slay but I still think MoM was a better record.
it has that epicness 1 of 1 didn't serve but both are 10/10s without a doubt
Gorilla - A pretty recent entry, when I first heard this single I wrote it off as your typical boy group "edgy" noisy song. But I started to notice that it was stuck in my head for some reason and as I started to listen to it more, I really got into it. I'm interested in hearing more from PENTAGON as 2017 comes in, so far they've delivered fairly good songs. Feels like a good fit to kick of the countdown.
Colours - Or, "Colors" I suppose. This was apparently from 2015? But I thought it was 2016 so I kept it. Halsey is proof to me that you can't trust ATRL. I wrote her off as a monotonous representation of the ~ tumblr wave ~ alt-pop that I wouldn't like. For the most part, her style is kind of parody-ish, but i'll be so bold to say that she doesn't deserve the hate she gets on here. This song gives me everything I need in pop, a chorus that is sharp, punchy, and full of life - not too common from Westerners if you ask me.
The Woman That Loves You - After seeing a few other lists I started to get into the dreaminess that was Japanese Breakfast. This song felt like a good representation as an early favourite as I got into them over the past few weeks. It combines the greatest elements of the dream-pop genre in its instrumental, but the combination of that with the vocalists' voice - perfect.
Stigma - I've never really gotten into BTS outside of a few of their ART singles. But WINGS was an interesting album. I loved half (the solos) and hated the rest (the noisy second half). The solos are actually kind of amazing. Brilliant, forward-thinking production, combined with emotional lyrics and delivery from literally all members (yes, even Jim). This one was one of the more low-key ones, but it grew on me immensely. V did that.
Fool to Love - Still haven't checked out NAO's album But I loved this sing from her. While not as punchy as Bad Blood from last year, its funky, her voice works well, and the song itself is a nice representation of that sort of R&B-ish style that I like. She's a cool artist, and i'm interested in hearing more.
