So far, Prism by the numbers is the bigger era overall.

However I think it will be much more forgettable in pop music and even in Katy's discography. The reason I think it's done so well is because it blends into the pop landscape so fluidly. But would 2013 have been that different if Prism hadn't been released? It would have been very different without BEYONCÉ though and that is the difference between the two albums. Both are successful, one has more overall success. And only one of them has real impact.

Katy only has numbers on her side. PRISM didn't make any cultural impact or bring something iconic to pop music, however Beyoncé did with her unorthodox release and the "surfboard" line in DIL.

Singers including Katy Perry and Miley Cyrus may be dominating the Billboard charts, but they don't seem to have the same effect Mariah Carey or Aretha Franklin had on their audiences. Lately, Queen Beyonce seems to be the only songstress keeping the diva torch alive, with a little help from her friends J.Lo, Kelly Clarkson and Adele -- who is, technically, still working her way to that prestigious status.

Yall can throw her single receipts around all day, but in 10 years what is her singles going to do for her?

2014 would not have been any different without Beyonce She isn't slaying the digital charts, Lorde is selling more than her on a weekly basis in terms of albums, Frozen is making BEYONCE look irrelevant as well as all the other pop girl albums etc.

Beyonce had "impact" because of it's surprise release. Let's not act like everyone is still talking about it considering it's not even in BB200 Top 10 anymore despite all of it's "impact" and EVERYONE knowing and loving DiL especially the iconic "surfboardt!"
