No one uses RIAA certifications as receipts because they are paid for.

Do you honestly think Gaga only sold 28 million singles in the US? of course not this is digital sales + streaming now and you have to pay for them.

EVERYONE uses RIAA certifications! Where do you think Katy got all her Platinum Discs in the US from? And yes she paid for them, like everyone else!

Katy Perry herself thought they were so important when the RIAA crowned her the top certified digital artist last summer, that she went along to get presented with the award.
