You don't get it do you. Beyonce gave iTunes the exclusive. They are paying for the promotional costs. The commercial is from APPLE. The Banners she doesn't have to pay for it.
Similar to her Target deal, they did the commercials.
Right. Let me also had that Columbia barely had any hand in any of this. So...
I saw Bey performances televised and watched by over 100 million people.
I saw Brit performances...zero times this year, watched by zero people, I believe.
Fees for commercials are not paid on a per-showing basis, and they certainly don't cost $100k per showing; certain time slots are bought for a period of time and paid for up front.
Columbia isn't doing any extensive promotion right now. This is all from Apple. Bey told her label to not do anything just yet.
There aren't any artists this year whose promotion costed that much, PRISM and Beyone would probably come close. Remember that having a commercial air once already costs like 100.000$, but having your tv commercial air multiple times, having videos for all songs, etc. No wonder that Bey's label had no money for other artists (as said by an artist from there): Beyonce's promotion is massive.
It's not like that money came out of Beyonce's pocket . She formed a partnership with iTunes like Katy did with Walmart. She gave them the exclusive, they gave her the promo.

the most promo by female artists this year in descending order:
GAGA
Katy
Miley
P!nk
Kelly

BRITNEY

Beyonce
How the hell did Gaga have more promo than PRISM with radio deals for only one single, one video, no commercial, no Google AdSense, less performances, less festivals, less interviews?
Its just that most people knew whatever Britney had to offer was gonna lack quality and thats why there wasn't as much anticipation as Bey's.
Plus..people will try and say Bey's promo was her tour, Superbowl, ads and appearances, not clear on what an album campaign actually is...promoting the product. BEYONCÉ: The album (the product) was not promoted at ALL before friday. Keep on looking foolish!
