Artpop was pretty much a lesson she needed to learn, that not everything she releases will be praised and successful. It was a reality check for her and her inflated ego.

She, just like Cyndi or X will always have a career no matter what, she was too huge to just disappear from the scene, but the direction of her next album can pretty much either re-establish her as a pop force or make her a niche artist with devoted following. Thats what I meant.
