Then she changed management and joined The Voice and I feel her management and record label saw it as the perfect platform to plug a new Gwen record, after No Doubt underperformed. The first sessions where songs as Baby Don't Lie came from had basically no identity and were just recorded for the sake of having something to release. After that she went through her break-up and met Blake. TIWTTFL basically represents that period of her life. Her record is not made with the same mindset as LAMB or TSE (which were partly LAMB leftovers). The record is made out of a personal point of view and more or less to get it off her chest.
Honestly, if it was up to Gwen, I doubt we even would have gotten a new Gwen album, but she would have put some of her break-up in a new No Doubt record.

For me the irony is that tiwttfl also sounds gimmicky. I think its correlation with other pop trends and albums right now is much more apparent than ha previous records. What I would have liked better is a direction in da way of no doubt, or even a similar production to bdl n the other song she released. As u say, she may not have been that emotionally invested in these songs, but I think they offer something more thN the arrangement on tiwttfl. Relistening to the truth Bout love, I am a bit shocked that a lot of the song or track listing on tiwttfl sounds like it. I'm sure the same can b said about otheralbums, such as revival, but I don't think Gwen would abandon ha gimmickry for, dare I say, more gimmerkery, I.e., pop serving? I am confused about tiwttfl
