That's exactly what I said.
Drunk In Love = More impact
Applause = More success/bigger hit

Girll bye. Applause was ALL over the radio this past fall and late summer... Applause was a global hit. DIL may of peaked higher than Applause, but it fell quicker.... a lot quicker.

Applause because of sales. Billboard peak has more to do with the situation than how big it was.

I've never seen a top 10 hit got so many people bothered that much.
No matter how many singles Applause sells, everybody and their mama knows DrIL.

Allow me to expose the irrefutable truth tea real quick. Sales do matter when it comes to finding out which song was a bigger hit, but when somebody buys the same record twice, some of an artist sales would be factually redundant because a bigger hit is a song exposed to more people.
I say more people own "Drunk In Love" then they do "Applause".
As mentioned before, if we add up the album sales + the single sales, both artists' songs would give us a result of around 3.1M units, however, you cannot assume that 3.1M people(in the U.S.) own the song. Gaga sold a good amount of the song to (90%+) of her stan base and some of it to other people before Artpop was released, but when Artpop was released guess who bought the album which includes the song? Yeah, that's right, her stan base(Im sure 99%+ of her stans own the album).
This tells us that, in reality: 3.1M-700k=2.4M
I'll add 50k for the people who did not buy the song, but did buy the album..
=2.4
Only, approximately, 2.45M of the people in the U.S. own the song.(purchased)
For Beyoncé, -as I said earlier- the album was available for purchase before the song and guess what? 1.9M people bought it, which includes the song 'Drunk in Love'. Now we subtract the sales of the songs of the people who bought it again after the they already bought the album...but wait a minute...who in their right mind would buy a song they already own?!?!? I'll subtract 5k just to humor you guys, but in reality nobody does this. Now we add her sales of the single 'Drunk in Love' which is at 1.216M and we get...
1.9M-5k+1.216M=3.111M
Subtract maybe 100k people who bought the song and later decided to buy the album.
3.01M
There is a reason why Bey's singles seem to be 'hits', but seem to be selling abnormally low, and now I've shown you why.

People choose to ignore the fact that many people didn't buy DIL because they already owned the album...
I love Gaga & Bey,but it just isn't fair to say that Applause had more impact. If you look at the whole picture, its very clear that DIL takes the cake.

Adele's Rumor Has It (a flop) came from an album that sold 10 million copies in the USA.
Obviously bigger than Halo + Drunk in Love + every 4 single combined.
Obviously people only did not buy it because they already owned the album. So 10 million people purchased the song..... so it is bigger.

it's not 100% but it definitely demonstrated the problem that everyone in this thread seems to be neglecting. DIL sold a significant amount as it was tied to the album, Applause didn't really. To compare the two songs on their sales is stupid when Applause had an obvious advantage of being released normally (despite being pushed up) and then BEYONCÉ's surprise release. The BEYONCÉ album has also sold more than ARTPOP, which means DIL was sold as a part of the album but still being sold regardless. And since you can't discern between who purchased DIL first and then clicked 'complete my album' or if they just bought the album as a whole (and thusly took a single sale away from DIL) the comparison isn't fair.

Applause. DIL only has a higher peak via a Grammy performance

I'd say Applause at the moment, but perhaps Drunk In Love in the long run.

In reality that many people do own the song and whether we like it or not, none of the songs on that album can be deemed flops.
