How was Monica more popular when they sold the same amount of albums and Aaliyah's songs charted better internationally?
Monica sold more albums than her in the 90s. That's undeniable. Save the sales post death. They don't count.
Quote:
I did, sis. YOU said that Aaliyah wasn't selling better than Full Moon and After the storm and I posted facts that It did. If Your're gonna debate, don't be an ass and not admit where you got owned
KIII @ you still clinging on to that one era when Aaliyah did better than her peers despite them using her wig as a wash cloth in the 94-00.
Quote:
Again, Monica's went 3x platinum and only sold a platinum amount. Actual Sales>>Certifications (anybody with logical sense would tell you that) But of course, your biased ass won't admit that for some reason. And even then, what does Monica and Brandy have to do with the fact that you didn't have the proper math skills to realize that 3 million sold= Considered selling millions?
Certifications are a better judge of because Aaliyah's sales after she died are counted in her Soundscan total. There is no telling how much sold per Soundscan 94-July 2001. I'm not here for you trying add in post death sales to give you leverage. By the end of the 90s, Brandy had shipped 9 million albums. Monica shipped 5 million albums. Aaliyah shipped 3 million albums. Even if the albums are over certified, it indicates who was more in demand than the others..
Quote:
I know how certifications work. But at the END OF THE DAY, actual sales>>>shipments. Obviously, Monica didn't live up to her expectations if she left 1 million of those albums unsold. No matter how much you flip it (which looks so pathetic) Monica STILL never outsold Aaliyah. So sit girl.
Monica outsold Aaliyah during the 90s regardles of how YOU manipulate it lol.

So, pop artists wern't popular and wern't selling major units in the 90's? Where does this leave Britney Spears? Nsync? Spice Girls? Ricky Martin? Nirvana? Need I countinue? You spare YOURSELF.
Irrelevant.
Quote:
Where's the lost when the actual SALES were the same as Aaliyah's? lol You DO realize that sales show more demand than retail orders? I mean, sales DO show what people are spending money on.
And you just proved my point! LOLOLOL....retailers ordered more Brandy and Monica albums because they were more profitable. Why did they order more? Because they were selling more. Why did they sell more? Because they were more popular than Aaliyah.

You don't know a damn thing. Beyonce singing better than Aaliyah is YOUR opinion, and it's never going to be a fact. Ever. Lmao, bye gerl.
I listen to BOTH of them consistently, and Beyonce's voice is better. Her belting is better. Her control is better. Her modal range is better. Her transitions are better. Her resonance is each register is better. Her power is better. Her technique is better. Her tone is fuller. Her vocal agility is better. Beyonce's voice >>>>>> Aaliyah's and you will deal with it LOL
Quote:
And unlike you, I have enough balls to admit I was wrong. You however, tries to gear off topic with some irrelevant ******** (Like when I proved that red album was indeed doing better than Mo's and Brandys, you simple glossed over it and said "But Brandy and Monica still ____!") . Girl, moove!
Once again still clinging on to that ONE era when Aaliyah did better despite Brandy and Monica doing better than her 6 years straight lol
Quote:
Then can you explain to me why her family and label had several court hearings? Where you there in court? how do you know they didn't have a mutual agreement? Keisha Chante even said that the movie didn't have a greenlight because her family said NO. So if the labels still had all of these rights (or didn't have an agreement) They could have easily overrode the family's wishes and went along with the movie. again, you dont know **** about the situtation. Stick to Beyonce. If it's that serious, you can even talk to Static's manager (who knows more about Aaliyah than both of us) that can vouch this. http://twitter.com/#!/staticmajor502
So now we're jumping to movies now!? Blackground and Jive were certifying her albums AFTER she died, which means they were making money off of it. And please spare me the nonsense of the family making the label not sell her albums. Until I see some receipts for purchase, your point is moot.

It's nothing to see. Every artist has a flop song here and there. So I mean, what were you trying there? Was her whole career full of flop singles or something? No, so that was a fail.
Nobody did that. But face reality, Aaliyah would have flopped.
Quote:
How many artists had # 1 songs when they died on the charts?Michael Jackson's posthumous songs were ALL flops. What logic are you trying?
His album still debuted at #3 and sold 3 million worldwide. KII @ "Michael" going platinum. KII @ "This Is It" going platinum. How much did "I Care 4 U" do?
Quote:
Again, she would have sold more if her albums wernt PULLED from the stores. Go to target or walmart and see if they still have Aaliyah albums. I DARE you.
For sure. Every young R&B chick that came in the game (solo) in the 90's has a flop album. What would've made Aaliyah different? She was neither the best dancer (Mya) or singer (Brandy or Monica depending on who you ask) of the crop of teenage R&B girls that debuted around the same time. Nothing special separated her from these other chicks...except her music, which has more to do with Timbaland than her.
Whether she would've had a successful film career can also be debated. I don't think she was that great of an actor. Not that it matters. Plenty of terrible actors have successful careers.
beyonce can't even sell 13 million worldwide on one album, like Aaliyah did.
Let's remember that 13 million has a lot to do with her dying (no shade). Sales for that album were going to be underwhelming had it not been for "that unfortunate event".
So let's keep it cute on Billboard's Female Artist of the Decade.

Oh stop it. Aaliyah was a better singer than Mya, a better dancer and performer than brandy and Monica and a better actress than Mya and Monica.. so what does this prove? All you did was just display things that the other girls were better than Aaliyah at.. why be one sided and not list things that made Aaliyah better than them? But of course, Leave it to the gorls of Atrl to Paint a picture that Aaliyah was a total failure.

I said all that to say that Aaliyah didn't possess some magical power that would've prevented her from flopping like her peers did.
And no, I don't think she was a failure at all. She was very successful within the realm of R&B. She will always be remembered for her contributions to 90's R&B. In fact, I use her music more than any of the chicks I named in my original comment. I just gave a realistic answer to the question asked.

Thanks to her dying. Such a huge artist as you claim, yet her highest Soundscan total is 2 million.
Why do you keep jumping on the "death" sales? One In a Million sold 2 million while ALIVE, And AANBAn sold 1 million while ALIVE. That equals 3 million. Monica's first sold 1 million, and her second sold 2 million, JUST like Aaliyah. making them equal. Where are the "Monica sold more albums" tea? She may have SHIPPED more albums, but at the end of the day SOLD albums matter more than UNSOLD SHIPPED albums that are left sitting on the shelf.
You just proved my point. I dragged you by your scalp and left you bald with FACTS and now you coming with that weak ****? Stand in your stilettos and take your loss like a woman.
Certifications, will never be, as important as actual album sales. Soundscan>> RIAA. But of course you won't admit that. And where is this "death" sales that you are speaking of? What is this "death" sales that you keep bringing up? Aaliyah sold 3 million while ALIVE. and if you really want EGG on that face, click this.
This article was written in 2001 BEFORE she died:
"The Detroit native made her first mark on the music scene back in 1994 with her debut, "Age Ain't Nothing But a Number." Since then, "Age" and 1996's "One in a Million" have sold more than 3 million copies, according to SoundScan. "
So, this proves that With two albums, Aaliyah has sold 3 million while ALIVE.
Now, where was I?
They ordered more albums, but they still didn't sell. WHo cares?
Don't care about voice. Irrelavant. Aaliyah>>Bey to me. and you can keep wasting your time with lies and more biased slop.
Me clinging on to that "one era" doesn't change the fact that she was selling better than them and you were wrong once again. Maybe you should follow suit and cling on to some actual facts?
Which is exactly why they had Aaliyah, OIAM, and IC4U pulled of shelves, silly goose. The only album that's still purchasable in it's original format is AANBAN. And I posted the reciepts, Static's ,manager, which I've talked to on various occasions, even said this. I even gave you his twitter that you can ask him YOURSELF. Last year he used to do video chats with Aaliyah fans on twitter and he gave us the tea on all that ****. Don't belive me? ASK HIM. http://twitter.com/#!/staticmajor502
Rashad, even doesn't deal with Aaliyah's record label owner (their own uncle) because he was milking Aaliyah's death for every penny it was worth. Diane (Aaliyah's mom) doesn't want Aaliyah to be profitied. She didn't even want the video to "RTB" to come out but Aaliyah's father talked her out of it.
So, if you don't believe this, simply Hit up Neeze on twitter and watch him tell you and you'll look like a fool once more.
THe links you provided proves my point, Goose. Why is more than half of her discography is missing? And not that damn re-release that's not even made in AMERICA (import). Where's the ORIGINAL versions of OIAM, Aaliyah, and I Care 4 U? why arent they purchaseable? huh? did they dissapear in thin air? did swiper steal all the copies and didn't give them back? Huh?
She still sold millions alive, sweets. I posted the soundscan reciepts while ALIVE. she sold 3 million=MULTI PLATINUM star= An artist that sold MILLIONS. Good day.
The gorls will NOT sit here and try to Paint Aaliyah's legacy as if she was the r & b equivalent to Khia. I don't know why they thought that **** was gonna fly with me still being a registered member. No ma'am.
Sadly she would be where Brandy, Monica and all those big girls from the mid 90's are now, mainstream top 40 music obviously... (Maybe her acting career would kept her in the spotlight).
