I gave in and listened to it!
It's a really smooth album. It doesn't really have any clear standouts, so I can see why some are / would be disappointed. But there's good stuff on it. The Sampha track and Don't Wish Me Well are my early faves, but there are about 6-7 more tracks I'll keep my eyes (well, ears) on to see if they grow on me. A bit disappointed in the Kelela collab, I was hoping for SOTY
I have an aversion to interludes though, so that was a struggle. Literally half of the album is interludes... There's still 11 actual songs when you delete them (and you bet I did), so it's fine, but yeah, I hate when artists do that. Her interludes did make sense though, like, I can see why she included them and what they mean to the album. But I just hate interludes
