Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump told California voters Friday that he can solve their water crisis, declaring that: "There is no drought."

If (when? IDK) Sanders loses the nomination to Clinton, then can't he run as an independent still? Or is that not how this works?

I think he is past the deadline to do that in most states (or that date is coming very soon). It would be really pointless.

"Donald Trump backs out of debate with Bernie Sanders"
Donald Trump will not participate in a debate with Sen. Bernie Sanders, the GOP nominee said in a statement on Friday.
"Based on the fact that the Democratic nominating process is totally rigged and Crooked Hillary Clinton and Deborah Wasserman Schultz will not allow Bernie Sanders to win, and now that I am the presumptive Republican nominee, it seems inappropriate that I would debate the second place finisher," Trump said. Therefore, as much as I want to debate Bernie Sanders - and it would be an easy payday - I will wait to debate the first place finisher in the Democratic Party, probably Crooked Hillary Clinton, or whoever it may be."

I'm glad it's not taking place.

Trump is so annoying.
EDIT: There. Is. No. Drought. Another disqualifying statement, but nothing will come from it.

He can. But, he'd literally stand no chance. At this point, it'd be extremely to get him on most ballots in the country, let alone all states. He's promised he wouldn't do it, but I don't trust his word anymore, so we'll see what happens.

But, technically, he's not.
Super delegates have never gone against the pledged delegates (let along in conjunction with the popular vote). Bernie's massive deficiency in both is not going to convince them to switch, especially with his suing the party and doing multiple things against the party. The decision to debate Trump was the final nail in the coffin for his relationship with the party. Once Hillary hits the magic number on June 7th, she'll be the presumptive nominee and the convention will not change that.
With all this in mind, Hillary openly stating that she's aware of the reality of the Democratic primaries does not make her arrogant. If anything, Bernie is arrogant for actually believing he has the right to steal the nomination by convincing super delegates to switch to him even though he is massively behind by all measures.

Yes, but she's NOT the presumptive nominee yet. That is a fact.

Not surprising. Trump knows he'd be humiliated. But hopefully people can force him into doing it.

Let's hope he strongly discourages his supporters from attempting to write him in. There are many who believe he could actually win as 3rd party candidate or write-in, because Bernie Math.

Bernie definitely has enough support for a third party victory, especially when you look at the unfavorables for Clinton/Trump and the fact that polling shows voters want a third party option.
He won't do it anyways though.

Her being arrogant for saying that she will be the nominee is not a fact though. It's a subjective opinion. That's what I was saying.

He has less popular vote than both Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. So how would he win against them in a smaller, less-supported third party when 75% of his supporters have said they'll vote for Hillary if she gets the nomination? Please do tell me.
The thing people fail to realize is that in order to win the GE, you need to hit the magic number of 270 (and all states are winner-take-all). Let's say Bernie runs third party and wins a fair number of states. There are two cases: - It could likely keep anyone from securing that magic number and would then make the question of who becomes president up to the House, which is controlled by Republicans, which would mean a Trump presidency.
- It also could mean that Bernie wins Democratic strongholds and only keeps Hillary from securing the magic number and would help push Donald towards actually reaching it. This is less likely than the prior option, but it also exists as well.
Bernie legitimately and logically cannot win as a third party. The system isn't set up for that. You may hate that, but that's just how it is.

Oh please no one is more arrogant than Bernie.
"We WILL beat Hillary. We WILL win the nomination. We WILL have a political revolution. We WILL win California. The establishment will bow to our feet." Blah, blah, blah. So it's only wrong when Hillary says the obvious? OKAY.
