That is the lamest excuse ever. It was a big rerelease with new songs. Doesn't matter if they leaked or were old. Same reason TFM counts as a new album. Why would it not count for Katy and do count for Gaga? Alejandro and Bad Romance demo leaked as well before, Telephone was old material too.

If you count DITD as a sinlge, you are forgetting Hair and the other iTunes promo singles.
Besides, Katy also has all iTunes Promo Singles too then to count
katy basically just praised Gaga and monsters reaction was " good thing katy knows her place"? like 
just be grateful... katy is humble and kind enough to not fuelling the fire that gaga had started... 
one place higher despite the remix and the fact that it had more major performances (including The Voice, which is probably the best show for performances nowadays)? In addition, Roar was still SMASHING for a large portion of Unconditionally's run and Dark Horse has been big competition for it as well (already platinum with no major performances or video or anything).
