It's a pretty huge deal to be called the voice of a generation. You better be firing on all cylinders.
Christina doesn't fire on all cylinders:
-Good voice, but misused to the point that Beyonce and Adele are now largely considered better vocalists
-Good voice, but apparently not good enough to keep Britney from destroying her sales
-Good voice, but not good enough to keep her from having to pull all sorts of ****ty stunts to keep up with Britney
-Good voice, but poor reviews (not a single album over 70 on Metacritic. Her "masterpiece" Stripped barely above Teenage Dream)
Adele fires on all cylinders:
-Good voice, and knows how to use it so that no one is considered better
-Good voice - in fact, so good that her voice alone has led her to outsell every single artist in terms of albums and singles, to take over radio, to score the biggest hit single in 25 years and what will be the biggest album since the height of music sales in 2000
-Good voice - in fact, so good that she needs no ****ty stunts to keep up with the likes of Katy, Gaga and Rihanna
-Good voice, and amazing reviews
The sheer power of Adele's voice and lyrics, and the emotion they evoke, have made her the biggest juggernaut the music industry has seen in over 10 years. She has it all - the best reviews, the most respect and the biggest sales. Christina never had that.
She is...The Voice of our Generation.
Edit: oh, and also, not a single person has said anything bad about her. In the indirectly shady words of Lady Gaga, "Adele is really sweet and lovely, and you rarely meet people like that in this industry."

I'm not sure if it was your intention, but you pretty much crowned Xtina as a runner-up.

They are great singers, but... Xtina sounds painful now, Beyonce's voice doesn't make me feel any emotion, it's too early to give Adele that title.

She must get through this Grammy season with wins in the major catagories. VMA's are OK. The Grammys are her peers (other singer/songwriters producers) voting for her. The ultimate measure of her talents. If she dominates Grammy night -she will have the title. It will be hard for her to break Amy's 5 wins a for British women in one night because Grammy eliminated one of catagories in their realignment this year.

Maybe. Christina is DEFINITELY NOT. Adele needs another album to be worthy of such a title. I still don't understand how she's only blown up now; I was jammin to her 19 album when it was released and nobody knew who the **** she was but she was still getting great reviews and releasing good songs. In any case, Adele has the strongest case at the moment.

I don't find her an amazing singer, she's good, and that's it, she is an amazing songwritter and musician i have to say, and she's the most successful good singer right now...the tittles have to been given by the media and general public.

Don't you think calling her the "voice of the generation" is pushing it?
If this is all you have to do to claim that title, we'll probably have a new one every month.

Hun, the point is, it was a title created by r espected industry peeps and her peers, not her fans, thats why it's credible.
Do you think whitneys fans came up with her title "the voice" ? it was a title used to describe her by industry peeps and her peers, respected people in the entartainment industry.
don't worry babe, your fave will have a title too, someday.

You're talking about the one with 16 Grammy's?
Oh sorry. Calling her "Voice of the Generation" is a very underwhelming title for her hun.
More like "Artist of the ****ing Millennium".

Well, let's get into this.
Adele is cool. She's talented and I'm proud to see she finally gets the recognition she deserves after her debut album has been mostly overlooked in favor to all the other emerging Brit newcomers from 2008 and 2009. 21 is a really good body of work and gives Ms.Adkins a lot of room to showcase her vocal talents, BUT I have to say that her vocal range is very limited. And you know what? I think Adele knows that and she doesn't really care. I would even see her as a kind of indie artist, especially with her first album, you can hear and see that quite clearly. Adele's voice and music is all about emotion. Her music mostly consists of heartfelt ballads, sometimes very rich melodies with a huge orchestra and sometimes a simple melody just with the piano and her wonderful voice. Yet to be considered "The Voice of our Generation" there is much more an artist has to show vocally than what Adele does. Like I said in NHB before, this thread only proves to me further that members like Duca and Haus_Of_Nicole, who represent their stanbases of Britney and Gaga and have a troubled relationship with Christina and us stans are trying all that they can to make look her unsuccessful, unimpactful, bitchy and well they write things where you could think they want to bring across she's talentless. It's no hidden shade anymore. No boundaries. Just blatant shade to keep Christina and her stans in place. So they take an artist like Adele or Gaga, who are not longer in the business than maybe 3-4 years, who are very successful right now and pit them against Christina. I mean, that happens all over the internet and also in the media, but does that justify that it can happen here without any consequences? We wouldn't always be so exaggerating and all over the top about Christina's achievements, if there wouldn't be at least 70% of ATRL who constantly bash her to the pits, where it's not even funny anymore. They make people forget that Christina "is" actually talented. If she's oversinging, uses a bad vocal technique or she isn't your cup of tea doesn't matter.
We didn't come up with "The Voice of Our Generation". Celebrities all over the world are mentioning that over a decade now.
Britney said she would love to have a voice like Christina.
Jessica Alba said she's the best singer on the Planet.
Justin Timberlake said she's the best singer of his Generation.
Whitney Houston said she did the best rendition of "Run To You" besides herself.
Celine Dion said she is the Voice of our Generation
Patti Labelle said she's a phenomenal singer
Ellen DeGeneres said she's probably the best singer of this Generation and for Generations to come
and that's just to name a few...
Her vocal range is about 4 octaves. She can do effortless falsettos. She even does the whistle register. Christina is the master of belting. Her vocal acrobatics are infamous. She's known to go up and down her vocal register. On the other side, she can be very emotional in her songs. She started crying while recording I'm OK. Linda Perry gave her Beautiful, because she was the right person, she had the emotional intensity to sing that song. She lives her ballads, she doesn't just sing them. And those are my ****ing two cents on this.
