Autre Ne Veut is definitely the worst.

You're right with the notion that strong hooks aren't necessarily needed in all songs, but it has to be strong in other areas such as strucutre, lyrics, vocals etc. The only thing remotely interesting about Kelela is the (v.good) production and even that isn't enough to "make" the songs.

He was in fact one of my favourites.

For me Kimbra was the worst by far. Some of her songs literally hurt my ears. Rhye was quite bad, too. He's like a boring, soulless version of Autre Ne Veut.

eh Banks is pretty boring, but Jhene is definitely the worst. I agree on the other two. Looking back on my scores, I kept giving 6s to songs that deserved 1-5s. I think those two + jhene were the ones I ****ed up on.

Well yeah, I agree with that but I think Kelela's voice and lyrics give her simple melodies and song structure purpose. It all works out, imo.
