Well her voice is definitely not what it used to be and these days a great mariah live vocal is kind of like a rare pokemon.

It's probably cause of a lot of things. She's growing older and every singer's voice changes around 40 as they age (mainly getting slightly deeper and hoarse and their range shrinking somewhat). But when she sings live she doesn't change the key or style of the original to make it suit her new limitations so she sounds like she's struggling through it.

She's also known to have vocal nodules (The thing Julie andrews got removed and lost her singing voice in the operation). She said she learned to sing around them cause she always had them and won't try to get them removed. They probably became issues as she grew affecting her voice.

She used to release an album a year, is a belter and performed constantly. That took a strain on her voice.

Probably stopped taking regular vocal lessons.

Also she's known to drink. Drinking is bad for your voice.

People also say that the constant use of her whistle register made her voice decline quickly as well. But that's just a theory since a lot of singers have been fine vocally doing the same thing before her and longer.

umm well to be honest I don't really know much about Britney's voice. She used to sing live very early on during her debut, and obviously MMC. I think she got used to singing a specific way so much it kind of made her forget how to sing like she used to in a way that wouldn't harm her voice.

The smoking/alcohol didn't help. That'll **** up whatever possibilities are there for your voice QUICK

She's managed to maintain her falsetto though. I think she's just so vocally untrained and found something in her inflections that got successful and popular so quick that she just got used to it.
