So we need a new thread so everyone can tell one of the very few fully mainstream African American artists still around how she needs to be better?

I would say Beyonce and Rihanna are pretty close for me at this point, although Rihanna still barely edges her out because of her attitude. Rihanna's bad girl sheen may be a bit of a joke, but at least she gives me something different. Beyonce never takes risks, and I prefer a pop star who can bare her soul without throwing away her commercial sensibility. Ironic as it may be, Beyonce just seems so marketing-driven to me. Everything she does is perfectly calculated. That's very similar to Madonna, but Madonna broke every rule of pop and Beyonce is playing very safely by them.
As for Britney. IDK. Nostalgia? Maybe. But she always delivers the best pop tunes out of this generation. I don't care if her performances are all **** until the end of time, and I don't care if her hair is never made up ever again, as long as she gives me the music. Her stuff is like crack.
On top of ALL of that, as I've said before, I love an underdog. If I were a huge Beyonce fan, having everything go well all the time just wouldn't feel right. I like some balance, some reality. I want to know that my faves are human.

That was neither an insult or a compliment really. I've lurked PJ a few times and it's amazing the way you guys can use so many colorful adjectives & add depth to Britney's music, videos, etc.
Oh, what was it?

You looked at it the wrong way, what AR said was we should create a thread on how Beyonce can become the great diva of all time.

I think latter catalog of music was pretty mediocre, but Control, Rhythm Nation 1814 (her most ambitious album to date; the concept behind it was great), janet. and Velvet Rope are some of the greatest Pop/R&B albums of all-time. It's sad that her music has been downgraded so badly. I don't even know what I consider Janet anymore.

I'm really not trying to. I'll just ignore all comments excluding Ace's, Capt Planet's, & Eli's.

That's not true. Janet became overtly sexual. She was a media darling in the '90s, yes, very much like Beyonce is now. But she was never as transparent as Mariah, she has always been more mysterious and she seems at once more down-to-earth and more famous. And her freak stuff really sealed the deal, the girl is more sexual than any other female pop star. And I love her for that. Mariah, like Beyonce, is safe.
I do think Janet is a legend. She isn't like Mariah these days. You can tell she's mature and secure, unlike the other who tries to hide her age and push up her **** at every opportunity. Don't take these biting remarks to heart because I love Mariah so much. But she is not a legend. Janet seems beyond pop culture now, she is so respected in the black community and she doesn't even have to try with her music anymore. There is a bizarre juxtaposition between her social standing and her commercial success, but I know her legend status is secure. She could flop forever and it wouldn't matter. Janet changed pop music, she moved it just a bit. Mariah never did.

Unfortunatelly she comes out with too much confidence now. This Sasha impersonation makes her look like she thinks she's the queen.

I think you're giving those tracks too much simply because they're by Rihanna and she's not really the lyrical type.
