But at some point, one of the sides have to give in. Like what are the parents going to do when their son does get married to a man? Rebuke the ceremony but still attend and party it up? That's not complexity, that's just hypocrisy.

She has a viewpoint that coexists and supports the humanity of a gay person. Why should she have to agree with the act of homosexuality, tho?

I'm already well aware of this.

She shouldn't have to separate her religious ideas from her own personal feelings. That's the problem with religion now. It's like people don't have a mind of their own. They're plenty of religious people who don't agree with alot of things involving religion and the bible (like homosexuality).

But regardless of what you want to call religion, the fact still remains that you choose to follow it. You don't, however, choose to be gay. And if you're insisting that it's a gay person's choice to follow the "lifestyle" of actually pursuing the romantic and sexual partners that they are attracted to, then you're saying that her statement means that she doesn't think gay people should be entitled to the same basic rights as others purely because of a part of them that they physically can't change.

There's no way around this. Calling being gay a "lifestyle" is obviously far from the worst thing you can say about gay people, but it's still problematic and it's a line of thinking that is negatively affecting the gay community as a whole, no matter how much the people who say it insist that they still "like and respect gay people".

Exactly. I don't see the problem even if she does sound a bit ignorant for the "Lifestyle" statement, that's her belief and she put it in the most classy way you can put it.

This just supports what I'm saying though. A good amount of people I know think having children out of wedlock isn't wrong but that doesn't make them think any less of those parents and children or love them any differently. It's the same to m (obv I disagree with it all but I see where they come from)

I agree with you, but I grew up in a household where you either agree with 100% or you're doing something wrong. I disagree with that way of life but I understand that pressure and I see where she's coming from
