Birthday's probably the second song (after Teenage Dream) that I'd recommend to someone who has never heard of Katy before and wants to know what it is she's about. It's like, thé classic Katy Perry song. It's why I was so shocked it flopped and why I think she should branch out a bit with producers - if Birthday can do badly that is not a good sign for the Katy/Luke pairing.

Something happened early on during the "Birthday" era that effected its airplay with a certain conglomerate, but everything seems to be ironed out now (although I'm not sure if TIHWD ruined that). Maybe one day it will come to light. I think something similar happened to Britney, but not for such a petty reason.
Since you're all going to ask me to "spill the tea," all I can say is that she said something at a party that offended a very easily-offended executive with a lot of power. I told Spree at the time, but didn't think it was appropriate to bring up while she was still promoting at radio.
